    Always enjoy listening to Prof. Burgess's common sense approach to creation's complexity and God's law and order. It takes significant intelligence + humility to explain complex topics so understandably. Thank you, Professor -- and Dr. Tackett.

    We ought to remind ourselves that we need to worship the Creator and not the creation. We were sanctioned to preach the 'gospel of salvation' not the 'gospel of creation'. Romans 1:16-17,20 [16]For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. [17]For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. [20]For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

    “Let there be light” created the sun? But it is not called “sun” it is called the luminary of the day. Where did the light come from before the luminary?

    The sun was created on the fourth day, I believe because there were civilizations which came along later who worshiped the sun (Egypt being a notable one which comes to mind). By not creating it until the fourth day, God showed He was over the sun.

    To God 1,000 years is like a day and a day is like 1,000 years. Time is no hinderance to God, since He created it. I believe that "honest" science/physics gives us a picture of how God did things. That's how science first began, by men reasoning out the works of God. I think I'm on line with Dr Hugh Ross's thinking concerning how God went about creation because his ideas are based on his knowledge and understanding in physics/science....and he's a guy who looks at what he knows in a truthful way. But....I don't think any of us should get into heated debates and arguments about this. Our salvation is not dependent on what we understand about God.....but on what God did to save us....Jesus Christ.....so....yeah, I have thoughts and ideas about it, but I don't really care, since Jesus died for me

    Physics has discovered we live in a block universe. So, in Genesis 1, when God created the heavens and the Earth, He created a block universe. Genesis 1 needs to be interpreted from that perspective. When you do, the six twenty-four hours of OUR time that young Earth creationists insist on, falls apart. Instead, you have six stages of a construction project and each stage of that construction project takes place across all of OUR time (likely many billions of years).

    OK guys, do you even know anything about the block universe? It is not normallly taught in the schools. Physics is stuck with this result that comes from special relativity. Some have looked for an alternative to the block universe but they haven’t found it over the course of over 100 years. So if we are in a block universe, then that is what God made. Then you have to interpret Genesis 1 from that perspective. The young Earth creationist interpretation is based on presentism and presentism is false. The block universe is actually a great result for Bible believers, but not, of course for young Earth creationists.

  • @scottb4579

    @scottb4579

    No. 2nd Peter is, in context, about God's patience bringing sinners to repentance. It has absolutely nothing to do with the length of the days in Genesis. For the love of truth, when God, SIX times tells us the length of the days in the creation week, you'd think people could understand and believe what He has said. When God SIX TIMES defines HIS usage of the Hebrew word "yom" in Genesis 1 as being 24 hour days, you'd think people would take the hint and not take scripture like 2nd Peter 3:8 out of context and attempt to apply it to the days of Genesis 1.

    Yes, each day of creation is about 1000 years of our measurement of time today, when the billions of evolutionists years are divided a million times according to the expansion of time and space during the events of each day of creation. Time slows to present speed during man's creation, making a 6000 year symmetry of our time before and after man created, then 7th day Sabbath at end that links back to before creation. Even entertaining a proper understanding of evolutionists erroneous dating of events before Noah's flood.

    @@markc5593 there was a light since first day, not today's sunlight. Some plant's can live without direct sunlight even today, so even any low light would be enough, and some similar to mushrooms can grow in dark, how much more so in past before today's variations adapted to today's sunlight. 👇 The only plant that will grow in complete darkness is the mushroom, but what people really want to know is which plants will grow where there's very little light.

    Modern computer games are now using procedural generation methods to create entire universes I see a direct correlation here! Once created the developers will tweak the code to get the final desired result Definitely not trying to take away from gods amazing achievements by saying we are living in a computer game or a simulation, what we see in all of creation is truly awe inspiring
