No we don't have to translate anything, it's already a shame that some countries doesn't sing in their native language. This is the heart of the Eurovision, that's why americans will never understand this show. The americans always want something for them but you're not alone in this world. Be open for other cultures ;)

@@JunkdrummerTV It's more clear and i had to be clear too : when we vote for Italy, France or Ukraine... We do it without the subtitles because the song is enough. This is the power of Eurovision.

Nice source on deciding all americans can't understand this show because it is not exactly for them...

Irish person here. I get what you mean about wanting to hear songs in our language but the thing is only a tiny minority of people in our country are actually fluent in Irish (don't believe the Census figures - a lot of people lie about their Irish speaking ability on that for some reason). That's despite Irish being a compulsory subject all the way through the education system up to 18. English is the de-facto language of Ireland (800 years of colonisation will do that) and is the mother tongue of the vast majority of people here so it's more honest really for us to submit songs in English. For what it's worth we do submit Irish language songs to the Junior Eurovision song contest though.

I swear I envy You for Your problem with the irish/english language! Here in Germany 80% of us know our native language, but unfortunately most of us, as it seems, don‘t like it and prefer to take part in a song contest that should show the characteristics of each country singing some lala-lyrics in english. That p…ses me off and every year I decide never to watch that esc again!!

Iceland were in it this year. There are two semi-finals on the Tuesday and Thursday before the the final on the Saturday. Iceland came last in their semi-final (with the lowest points in either semi-final so they essentially came 37th out of 37 competing countries this year) and so didn't make the final. This was their performance: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iHecpMmcqca8nJs.html&ab_channel=EurovisionSongContest

Also Switzerland was clearly taking a side, the non-binary, woke, and "let's politicize ESC" side, and only the similarly positioned juries made him win. The Televotes alone would have been very different.

Being from Sweden, I neglected my European duty to watch Eurovision this year. Can I tell my overlords that I outsourced my watching to you?

The reason most songs sound like "American" music is that they are all written and produced by the same group of Swedish producers, songwriters and choreographers that make "American" music. 🤣

Ha ha, can‘t believe it! You really read all comments on comments? Thank You for the heart anyway! I have to apologize, because I wanted to comment Your perspective first and then some others. But I was unable to decide what to leave out in my comment in order not letting it become too big. In the beginning I had some words on every performance, just like You. At last I decided to limit my comment on the circumstances, which are more and more important. In the history of the ESC the music lost much of its importance. We saw the rise of two developments. On one hand the ESC is since many years, let‘s say since 2014, when "Conchita Wurst“ won, the avantgarde of the LGBTQAI+ - community of Europe. On the contrary it became a playground of the political mainstream, pushed by the leading media (press and TV). The ESC lost its 'innocence‘ at least in 2022, when to nobodys surprise Ukraine won (with a terrible hymn against Russia!), not for the best music, but to comfort them and as a reward for their fight in this foolish war against Russia. It was crystal clear that this year Israel would be booed and condemned for their war in Gaza, no matter if the singer and the song were good or not! Of course was it a political song too, so nothing would be better, if they won! (Imagine, some journalists asked :"How can you send Israel to Malmö with an arabic population of 30%!!“ We‘re talking about Sweden!!!) Under these aspects I hesitate to say a few words about the performances. I agree with most of Your points, I complain the fact that so many people didn‘t use their native language (as always), find the songs not good enough to stay in mind (unlike the first heroes of the 'modern ESC, ABBA with "Waterloo“!), and must finally say, that men are the most pitiful beings in the world. Their only task seems to be half-naked the embellishment to the greatness of women! Now I sound like an old man (who I am), I am not always that way! It‘s the ESC that makes me feel this way. Every year I promise myself, I will never again watch this bullshit, just to view it next time as well. I‘m gladly looking forward to watching Your perspective next year, all the best!!!

Israel could have never won..? Has it escaped you that Israel would have been at least 2nd if the jury hadn't very openly schemed against Eden..? And the jury was only introduced a few years ago so that "the people of Europe" don't unexpectedly mess up the ESC's plans. But yes, Europeans overall would have liked seeing Israel win this year.

And yet they didn't win. Which proves my point.
