An Age Contrived ~ Flat-Packed Monuments & Conveyor Belts 🔧 | Board Game Preview

Get ready to flex your divine muscles and dominate the mortal realm in An Age Contrived! As a god in the Eldranic pantheon, you'll need to channel your energy into the world and show those mortals who's boss. But watch out, your power is directly proportional to how much the mortals believe in you, so program your moves carefully, contribute to the construction of monuments and make sure you're finding more energy when you start to get low!

Thanks for stopping by for our preview of An Age Contrived! We're Amy & Maggie aka ThinkerThemer. We're an Australian couple with two very different perspectives of what makes a great board game - Amy (Thinker) is all about the mechanics and enjoys tight, competitive games, and Maggie (Themer) is all about the storytelling and the theme of the game, and the 'world' that the designer is trying to create. Subscribe to our channel to hear us talk about these two elements of a game, and how well integrated we feel these are in delivering a cohesive and wonderful game experience.

Looks like a great game! Also can't get over how fabulous your nails are Amy! They almost match Maggie's shirt!

Was checking out the campaign today on KS and then your review popped up. I admire the scale of this game done by a first-time designer. Definitely intrigued...

I really can't decide if I want this or not. It feels like one of those games that I'd have a really hard time getting to the table. It seems good, but will it be so good that friends will be yearning to have it hit the table multiple times?

Great review/overview. The components look great. The Conveyor Belt board looks intriguing, but whatever theme there is, it is not really my theme. Tanks for this video.

I have never backed a Kickstarter game but....I might be tempted with this one. Looks a bit complicated but enjoyable. Thanks ladies!

Hi Amy and Maggie! Really appreciate the coverage of this one. I read a few of the design diaries and was quite intrigued. It does look like a good game that I'd enjoy! But I'm really trying to cut back on my crowdfunding to no more than one project a month, and ideally any project I back has to be something that seems special to me. I could split hairs between when a project starts and ends. But for February'ish, I went with Andromeda's Edge. And for March'ish, I'm almost certainly going to be backing Chip Theory's Elder Scrolls. In the end, An Age Contrived just has some stiff competition. See you both next time! :)

Jeez, talk about gimmicky upgrades. Why do you need 3D elements on the board? Why do you need spring loaded things when you can just pick it up? Seems like it’s purely for the sake of novelty. More like “A Game Contrived” I played it on TTS and it’s not really that interesting or unique, seems like it’s really banking on the novelty aspects. Lastly, the “why should I back? YOU WILL MISS OUT” is just icky. Major FOMO tactics here. Hard pass on this overproduced mess
