Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

actually it's exactly what we need to hear, not to come to LA, especially that no one will hook you up, if you won't do it yourself no one else will! of course even after watching this video 99% will still not realize how difficult it is because they haven't experienced all that yet but it's important to hear! thank you so much Bill Oberst Jr.

I have had so much rejection through high school but I believe rejection separates the people who will just give up because the world' is mean and the people who learn from it and would do anything to live out their dreams or becoming an actress in Hollywood .

This might be the most compelling video I've seen on KZread. There are so many life lessons here let alone film actor tips and tricks. Chock full of wisdom and insight. Seems to me an hour spent watching this could replace so many books, seminars & even acting lessons. My family has been in this business for 100 years and everything this man says is true. You must be in it for the love. You must love acting so much that it wouldn't matter if you never made it big. There is one thing that seems to give people and advantage though. Get into it, and get representation while you are a kid. My sister used to be in acting and many of the kids she would routinely run into at auditions are big names now. And if you do get into it as a kid, make sure your parents are pleasant for the casting agents and producers to deal with. And if you do get into it as a kid, even if you are getting a lot of parts, don't skip college, because few people get parts all of their life.

Child acting can be extremely damaging to their mental health and usually the parents putting their children into that are like pagent mom's, they are living through their children. They force their children to work instead of letting them be a kid.

So honored to have worked with you Bill. You truly are a grounded person with so much talent and you are so humble. I hope we get to work together in a future project again. All you said is so true for Los Angeles, and even though I live in Vegas, I still treat my career like a business and manage to make it work for me. Thanks for your insights! Tomiko

This is an eye opener! From the age of five I have wanted to be an actress, it was a need, I wanted to move people and acting was something that freed my mind, this video has not changed my mind but motivated me! Thank you for making this amazing and very informative video!!!

Wow!!! this is the realest advice I have received so far on moving to LA. I think I needed this. it sort of reinforces the idea that I and I alone can get me to where I need to be. Even my parents who love me cant move with me there and take me to auditions so how would friends do it? I thank you for this advice. and also the next interview you had with him which is how I found this one. Pretty insightful man. A lot of people embroider in their talk of LA and its nice to get the simple frank low down on it!!!!!

I love everything about this...I'm a REALTOR too and love that analogy. Marketing. It's your job to promote yourself. You are in a relationship for life with your projects. ALL of this is such good advice.
