Same here, friend. My mom loved this song when it came out, and edgy younger me thought it was the corniest thing ever. I re-listened when it came on the radio yesterday, and I teared up. My mom died at 85 in 2017.

I swear this Christmas song has the most powerful words I've ever heard.

My Christmas wish to have my loved ones back for 1day. To hold them dearly and never let go.

Her voice is so soft and beautiful. The yearning and power that grows in her voice as the song progresses. Amy Grant is a true artist and this song shows her range. The video is so lovely as well. She describes a childlike Christmas fantasy and the colors and lighting suggest an almost dreamlike state. But the lyrics of the song slowly direct the listener to a more meaningful and fulfilling desire for the world. It isn't confrontational or condemning. This is another way that Amy shows her incredible talents.

One of those timeless classic contemporaries that never ages or fades. Dripping with emotion, we need more music and lyrics like this in an age of chaos, pain and lost humanity.

Hard to believe all those kids in this video are all grown ups now. With their own grownup Christmas wishes.

It is hard to believe 30 years have nearly gone by.

This is such a beautiful song. Every Christmas we hear so many of the same songs over...and over...and OVER again, while we're lucky if we hear this one once or twice. Not that there is anything wrong with those other songs, but this song definitely deserves more playtime than it's given during the holidays.

I play this on my soprano saxophone for my hospital’s patients every Christmas. It brings tears to their eyes. It’s very challenging to play because Amy Grant’s version is in the key of B Major. I must transpose it to C-Sharp Major which has seven sharps in the key signature. It also takes a great deal of breath control as well. However, the joy of bringing my gift of music to my patients’ lives makes it all worth the effort!

This is my favorite christmas song, not only because it's sung by the great Amy Grant, but because of what shes singing about and how powerful and true her words are to all adults, even if they don't want to believe them.

I've listened to this song every year at Christmas since it was first released. Listening to it now, I'm reminded how much our world today needs this message.

Amy Grant is one of the finest performers in both Christian and mainstream music. Her performance away from music is to be equally applauded. Now and forever a fan!😍

My favorite Christmas song of all time. So much underrated but can never deny this heart-felt masterpiece by Amy Grant.

I have always loved this song since I was a small child. I am all grown up now and I understand every lyric so much more then I ever could have as a child. Maybe it was some foreshadowing as to what I had to "look forward too" in the years that were t come. I have listened to this song every Christmas since and I just fall more in love with the meaning and the message of the song every time I hear it. Its more then a wish list, its a musical prayer.

I've listened to many versions of this song, by many singers. No one can reach the sound range, that Amy Grant brings, as she recorded it, before the making of this video. That is Awesome! At first I assumed Amy wrote the song. After I started hearing everyone and their brother singing it I looked it up. I didn't remember your name sorry, writer's really don't get the name recognition they deserve.

I am late to respond to this but my mom was on a vent and stayed on it for 8 weeks before they finally took her off and she immediately improved and it’s a miracle she survived. I know your pain and I am praying for you and your family! May God bless you and be with your brother in law🙏🏻

Love this song with all my heart, Amy is an Angel!! Cannot listen to this without tearing up!!

I always feel nostalgic over the years that had passed. It was the best childhood years where things are quite simple and easy . , where small things can make us smile a little and laugh out even harder ..where things aren't complicated at all.. and when we always look forward to our wishes and dream to come true. If and only i could turn back time. I would always want to be a child forever...

So beautiful! She was a LOT of my Christmas music as a young mom in the late 80's, into the '90s. Will always have a place for her in my heart

the audio blend of her voice with the keyboard timbre is as close to perfect as you can get. Robbie Buchanan and the audio engineer get many props for this record. It's not easy to out do Natalie Cole being produced by Midas touch David Foster. I'll bet even Foster was impressed.

My idea was to write something different for a Christmas song....not just about snow, jingle bells, etc...although I LOVE all Christmas music....I wanted to write a lyric that was more meaningful and lasting, with adult aspirations. Hi Linda, you've written a masterpiece of a song, many different great singers have sung it, but no one sings it like Amy Grant does, by far she does it best, that's my opinion. My dad's old boss in the Army was the man who recruited Elvis & put him in the Army, we lived in Jackson, Miss. back in the 70s, I was a kid at the time, heard lots of stories about Elvis & I've always been a big fan. Anyway, beautiful song, love it & good talking to you. Merry Christmas🎄☃️🙏👍✌️
