AMT 1/25 Scale Chevy Corvette ZR-1. Full Build Video.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Full build step by step of AMT's 1/25 scale 1970 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1. This is the second model car in a popular scale (1/24 or 1/25) that I have attempted. I made plenty of mistakes on this kit but I learned a lot and had fun trying some new things.

Many AMT kits have a lot of challenges but you took it with grace. I like what you did with the clear green on the koppa! Turned out nice. Molotow is good for chrome effects but you can't touch it for weeks and weeks or it just turns dull again. Vallejo has some nice metaliser paints that look great but aren't quite chome either but have good colors like aluminum, iron and more. They end up very metal like. For the embosing powder, it does help to water down the glue a little before applying it and do it in sections so it doesn't dry out on you. It took me a long time to get embosing powder down and it still has its challenges from time to time.

I have just bought this kit so a useful video. FWIW I think it looks great and I'd be proud of it. Part of the appeal of the Round 2 AMT kits is being able to build the kits of my youth without paying collector prices, so that's a win regardless of the less than Tamiya fit.

A tip I found for dealing with the seam lines is to spray a mist coat of primer first. The primer shows up the seams better than your eyes. Then block sand the whole body. You will see the body, doors, hood and trunk are not flush at all. Body shops do this to insure the body is truly flat ! I wish the kit companies would just mold in white plastic also ! The kit came out fantastic !! Cheers !

Nice job, love the C3 Corvette. Great color too. Two minor things, the carburetor should've been a light gold and I would've done the interior in a tan. Most of these had tan, green or black interiors back then.

I have subscribed. Liked your finished product. Nothing wrong with Round2 molding it in color, I love the red base. In fact, everything in white is b-o-r-i-n-g! 😁 Sometimes I keep that base molded color with clear coat, other times paint over it. I never use primer, these models don't rust! lol; but I have no issue getting colors to cover the plastic without primer. No waste of time and money when skipping primer. Painting white on white plastic is actually harder than white over red. Give me the red. I watched with much interest your multi-layer painting technique. I will try it, you use thinner paint and more layers than I have been, but I think coverage will be the same. On the other hand, the amount of flash here disappoints me. I already bought the kit, but had I seen this video sooner I might have not purchased it.

Suggestion for using flocking powder. This is the way I do it and usually get excellent results. First and most important, work in MUCH smaller sections at a time, for instance, one side of the floor at a time. Second, use flat enamel paint instead of glue, fairly heavy to keep it from drying too fast, in the color of the flocking powder. Give it a try, it will help hide any light coverage.

Looks great. It's clean build and that's what counts. My only critique is the interior color 😢 Corvette marroon was a tad darker, especially door card with the seats a bit lighter and the carpet a separate tone also. That's also a very old mold. I'm proud of you for being patient with it. That's more work than any Tamiya kit would subject you to, but, it's subject mater is worth it. Hint? Next time for carpet, use gloss paint as your glue. Nice.

AMT kits are beautiful when you finish them, its just that they are relatively hard to get through them as they have fitment issues on EVERY kit!
