Nice, I put the Sinister Diesel bypass kit on my 7.3 powerstroke because it comes with the AMSOIL bypass filter. I'm currently using the EABP 100 since my engine holds so much oil.

Always wondered how these work/ are installed.

These trucks with all the emissions on them from the factory,make the engine oil even fresh oil change look black!! Lots of soot. My 04 LB7 zero emissions from the factory oil stays clean for thousands of miles!

I wonder how much will clean up after about 300 miles. That would be worth following up.

Weight that bypass filter and weight when you take it off but turn upside down to let all oil drain out and the weight to see how much soot you caught ?

Im amazed how clean my 6.7 cummins runs. its fully deleted which helps a ton. i use amsoil, my oil will stay damn near new looking to around 10,000km! that's when I start seeing a change in colour. I'm debating on installing this bypass. Where did you mount the bypass lines to draw from the truck?

There's one line that goes to the oil cap which is made out of Billet aluminum that's 10% of the oil from the full flow filter bracket and it filters at to microns at 99% efficiency... the full flow filter filters at 20 microns and 99% efficiency. How much flow should you expect at idle? I just installed mine and pulled the cap. It’s kinda dribbling out, not a great flow.

It is a 10% of the full flow filter so basically it just routes that 10% through the system If there's some sort of constriction or something there could be a problem also certain low flow oil pumps they say not to put on a bypass filter so there could be something there as well Just depends on the setup and depends on certain specifications

That's so cool you are back at Jeff's! Is a bypass filter the same as an oil catch can? Many people talk about this but I struggled to find information, what are the benefits and does it fit every car ?

It's totally different a catch can is intercepting the oil that's coming from the crankcase ventilation system The bypass filter is a separate filter that is routed off of the full flow filter and it takes 10% of the oil flow out through another finer filter So it's just oil filtering the oil much much finer 10 times finer than an a full flow filter

Did he drill those holes for the bypass filter mount or did he use holes that were there? Good spot for it though

The bypass filter says it has a life of 60k miles so if you change your oil and main filter 6x or every 10k then the bypass filter is good the whole time or do you recommend changing it every oil change too? Also if it does truly stay good for 60k miles then do you take it off and just drain it every oil change?

You'll see it in the video there's a couple components there's a couple of hoses you got an oil cap that has a hose that goes in the middle and then you have a Billet aluminum piece that goes on to the oil filter housing and what that does is it routes 10% of the oil through the filter of the bypass and then back into the oil cap it's a little weird when you look at it the first time but once you see it in person it's very simple surprising most diesel trucks don't have it stock. If it's diesel I would but if it's gas I would just do the signature series and change the filter at about 12,000 MI that's what I would personally do I'd also run the upper cylinder lubricant every full tank and the pi cleaner every 4,000 miles. Yes you could if it's diesel it would definitely be worth it if it's just a gas motor you're fine changing the oil filter early and you can run the oil a very long time when you're running the signature series

Just pull the oil cap off and let go in a clear container to see how Clem it is or not ?

I had twin by pass oil filters for 05 5.9 and it dry started so I pulled it out called Amsoil and they said send it back and they gave me my money back .

I see a lot of diesels online using bypass filters. Is there a significant advantage for gasoline engines? I'd love to get 1 million miles :-) out of my new Toyota Sienna.

The bypass filter is ideal for the diesel oil because of the added soot contamination. If you wanted to get more miles out of your gas motor what I would personally do is I would add an oil filter relocation kit and use a bigger oil filter and have a larger oil capacity that would allow your motor to run cooler. Because the oil temperatures would be cooler with the oil filter relocation kit. It's something that's really not necessary because as long as you change your oil filter when it's close to full you'll be ahead of the game and as long as you're running the signature you should easily be able to make a million miles no problem.

60,000 mi or 2 years whichever comes first on the bypass filter. It would be best to change the full floor filter at 15,000 mi and use the diesel injector clean plus see team boost as a maintainer.

Yeah the diesel oil is usually always dark however the gas oil can definitely change quite a bit as it oxidizes just depends on the fuel dilution and the heat cycling on the fluids the age definitely play a big role. Are you a youtuber?

That one goes through the filter the bypass filter and then an empty's out into the oil cap it routes 10% away from the full flow filter through the bypass filter which filters at two microns instead of 20 microns at 99% efficiency. And then that 10% gets routed back into the crankcase oil through the fill cap

There seems to be 100's of these bypass installs on youtube. But very few results videos. The one or two results videos I've seen didn't seem to be very good. The oil stayed jet black. So until I see more positive results I'm voting no on this one.

Yeah the color of the lubricant is not the best indications really if you want to get down to the science behind it you definitely want to do oil analysis I highly recommend it on your personal vehicle they do make a huge difference or else no one would buy them they are more for specific applications people that drive huge miles and they are towing or plowing snow or extensive idling like tow trucks. I'm with you if I was doing just regular driving and highway driving I would not have one but if you are doing serious Duty I would definitely get a bypass filter because you go longer per oil change you have better oil Cooling you also have less contaminants floating in the oil with less particles less friction less heat less where your motor will last longer with higher compression and you also have better fuel mileage because the oil won't thicken as quick. So it really depends on the application I highly recommend checking out the oil analysis playlist on my channel you'll see that on the homepage👍

Delete the egr and dpf and it’ll clean up a lot and 3 mpg better

Hello. I use a Amsoil Ea oil filter on my Nissan. The Amsoil bypass filter is said to be 2 micron. What's the micron achieved by the Amsoil Ea filter?. Thank you.

And Schaeffers oil is better than Amsoil

I’ve tried both on my 2015 ram 2500 6.7 l tried different oil stopped on schaeffers haven’t tried anything better yet

@vaskadid1786 what type of modifications do you have done to your diesel engine?

Better fuel economy from oil change is BS. I've done this whole thing and no better mileage at all. Maybe better wear protection and longer change intervals but the most you can get is 24 months on oil regardless of mileage.

That's what I thought Phil yes it's amazing how much of a difference in a signature series makes it cleans your motor from the inside out so you have better compression you'll have significantly better fuel mileage we have a bunch of great videos on the channel definitely check them out on oil analysis
