A nine year old child that is able to sing on this level is more than amazing, extraordinary to say the least, can we say a world star is born, we don't know, hence it might well be. Even if you never liked opera this child of 9 will blow your mind. I've never heard better in my life.

Three of the greatest things I've been privileged to hear in my (soon-to-be) 50 years - Claramae Turner singing "You 'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel. Susan Boyle singing "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables. And now Amira Willighagen singing Ave Maria! And she's just 9 years old!!! I truly hope she has a long and rewarding career ahead of her. She's a major talent.

A thousand times I watch, a thousand emotions I feel... and the humor and courage of her original creation... God bless her!

What's really endearing about her is her complete innocence , she really has no idea what impact her performance has to the adult audience, she's just as playful as she is. Lovable!

cherish this feeling in your heart.. we all can learn a lot when we listen to this place in our memory and our soul which is touched by this innocence and playfullness. One moment of truth and authenticity, reminding us of and shocking us into the utter joy and vitality of our inner child we all have been taught not to listen to. It is lovable, yes, and I guess it is lovable because she reminds of of all the love we were being and feeling and expressing when we were children..

And like her play like there is an adult spirit inside her who used to be an opera singer, i have also seen 8 year old children paint masterpieces without ever taking any lessons and without ever making any mistakes and when they speak they sound like a child of 8 but the same as Amira when they do their art and singing its another spirit inside of them that takes over. It's a mystery from God to make believers out of the non believers that he is in control and uses these children's innocence and purity and absence of malice to work his miracles.

She may not playing dead she may be doing "Dead Ants" a thing that went around ski hills decades ago in North America and seems to still be happening in Europe. A skier would yell Dead Ants and all those skiing would drop down just like Amira did here with hands and feet plus skis in the air and everyone would laugh then get up and start skiing again.

Lovely child, brilliant voice, and a sense of humor to boot! This child will go far, as long as she is protected from predatory wankers who may only see her as a meal ticket. Get her some HONEST COMPETENT REPRESENTATION, NOW!!

@DragonChaserKev But he didn't get his hands on her. Now 17 she controls her own career and what she does musically. Two online streamed concerts, a first for her, last September and December. Studying in her last two years of secondary school, still doing athletics, and staying below the shark radar in South Africa. Smart girl, she hasn't let the glitter of big stage life dictate her teen years, preferring a normal as possible and private teenage life.

It takes a lot of confidence to do a thing like that without looking like a fool!

I think the thing she does here is so touching because she is 100% natural and basically just a "kid", it makes me laugh every time, don't change Amira and be a kid as long as you can, you are wonderful

To see an adult soprano do this same move at the end of her aria watch the soprano in Mozart's Ascanio in Alba performed in Salzburg in 2006 [51].

To quote one of the jury Amira is positively spectacular. Always a pleasure to hear her sing.

Just thinking about her dead animal joke cracks me up. It seems unlikely that someone would have put her up to it. That a 9 year old child would have the self-confidence to play such a joke on a large audience is amazing. If someone did put her up to it, it was a stroke of genius. I bet that kids all over the world are doing it now. Considering her abilities now, what will she be doing with voice training as an adult.

Claro Katy...de hecho debe ser así, que en las nuevas generaciones se forjen luminarias para reemplazar a las generaciones que vamos envejeciendo (me incluyo jajajaja). De hecho será una grandiosa soprano pero no olvidemos que ya han venido apareciendo otras niñas, niños y jóvenes en estos ùltimos años con grandes talentos, Jackie Evancho por ejemplo (a quien admiro) que muy similar a Amira apareció en un got talent... lo bueno es que el futuro lirico serà grandioso...

We used to do this a lot as kids too, pretending to faint, over nothing mostly, laying on the floor like a dead animal. And then whatever people might try it's the trick to not respond. Maybe it's a Dutch kids thing. I find it super funny to see her do it on stage.
