Joe Wilkinson is a comedy master. His sketches in 8 out of 10 cats does countdown are hilarious. To make Sean Lock laugh uncontrollably is not easy and they say to make another comedian laugh is one true sign that you are funny.

I watch this when I’m feeling miserable. Seeing Sean lose it like that, and Joe trying to get through it is ALWAYS funny. Laugh out loud, crying and wheezing funny. 😂

What makes it funnier is that the guest panelist is Dr John Cooper Clarke, an English poet of some repute, the poet laureate of punk.

I know a guy who was there for the recording. Without editing, this scene goes on for nearly three times as long, because everyone just couldn't stop laughing.

Believe me that was the right one. On occasions Joe has moments of genius, combined possibly with a touch of insanity😋

If you can make Sean Lock laugh like that, you must be doing something funny and right. Joe is brilliant

You do listen to your audience KingB! Thank you for that. The significance of this clip is that it's extremely rare to be able to dismantle every other comic on the panel. Especially Sean. Notice it's only when Sean loses it that Jimmy follows him.

Whilst we love watching your reaction to our favourite clips you really you need to watch this through again but without pausing it. I guarantee it will have you crying even though you know what’s coming. In fact this entire particular episode of cats is top notch. I would also recommend watching the two or three occasions Adam Riches guests in dictionary corner as the actor Sean bean. It’s a bit left field but again like carrot in a box each one is better than the last. Keep up the good work of promoting great British comedy. 👍

@scurfy @arron Lowe. Besides Sean and Joe another great couple of sketches are with Greg Davies, his Chris Eubanks impression and then when they set him up with the man himself. Sean properly went to town on him during that one.

Have you had suggestions for Bob Mortimer yet? The things he does in his life will have you questioning reality 😂

You also saw Joe Wilkinson appear in Carrot in a Box version 3 (with Lee Mack and Jon Richardson) which you reacted to 8 days ago. He confirmed that it was lying on a black silk cushion.

Every time I watch that I cry laughing. It's just the way he delivers it.

Joe is hysterical, just brilliant. When he played Kevs brother in Derek I was crying 😂😂!!! Such a good comedy actor aswell as a comedian ! David Earl (Kev in Derek) is another total comedy genius!!

I mean you said Jimmy was destroyed. But Sean Locke was literally and figuratively holding his side because he was laughing so much. Joe absolutely smashed it with this one. For sure a Top 10 8/10 Cats moment.

For anyone wondering about the Captain Birdseye reference - he was character on adverts for fish fingers who always wore a very distinctive thick polo neck sweater 😉

So glad you did this! Trust me when i say Joe W is normally sooo pro - honestly he does the craziest ish and keeps a straight face... to see him lose it like this is a one off and so legendary!😄

I worked with Joe's brother at the school I work at, he got Joe to to a comedy night there for charity, he was nuts. Joe is currently doing a TV show with Catherine about cheap holidays, very funny. Catherine is the one at the very beginning of the show.

possibly the funniest thing i’ve ever seen on tv. each reviewing leaves me in tears. 8 out of 10 cats does countdown is a hybrid show that is consistently hilarious. david o’doughtery, sarah millican, roisin connerty make regular appearances…. all good. i first saw joe wilkerson in a couple of episodes of miranda (miranda hart). he is wonderfully out there. as an american, i prefer british comics…i love their sense of wacky and cerebral humor.

Comedy GOLD! That WAS the right one. Well done for broadcasting it. It’s been my ‘go to’ 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown clip.

I can only like once, so I'll second that.

Anything you choose from '8 out of 10 cats does Countdown' is more or less guaranteed to be very funny. Especially all of Sean Lock's scenes. Another show with very many hilarious pieces available on YT is 'Would I lie to you?', a game of bluff and lies that has Lee Mack and David Mitchell as team captains. Great reaction as always.

So pleased you got around to this one! One of my favourites! I've had a pretty rough few days and this cheered me right up, so thank you!

AKA Tom Binns, now a convicted sex offender after being caught with a shitload of child porn. So....maybe not lol

I've seen this many times over the years and it still destroys me. It's like a magic moment of an unbelievably rude idea that got into Joe's head, he writes it out but the absurd hilarity of it hits him at the same time as the people he's telling it to. Sean is great but Joe was my absolute favorite guy on that show.

The Channel 4 you watched is the best, barring the whole episode version, I've seen this dozens of times, cried laughing every time.

Just watched this full episode the other night on Britbox. When i saw the balloons. I knew it was the poem episode.

The Outtakes for the cream cake eating scene in Afterlife always gets me

There are plenty of Joe Wilkinson montages from this show, and all are brilliant. “I told you not to have an erection” is a favourite

There are lots of great moments like this on our comedy / quiz / panel shows and they are many and varied . This one came as a tribute to John Cooper Clarke , a poet , in dictionary corner who judged each contestants poem - needless to say Joe won .

It's the absurdity that is so brilliant - and that makes it as funny as hell. Sean was gone seconds into it because he knew where Joe was going with this "poem". Just the thought process to come up with this humour is incredible.

Yes, that was the right one. Instant classic of British poetry (move over Shakespeare, you've been outclassed!).

This show came about one year channel 4 mashed 2 shows together for comic relief 8 out of 10 cats a comedy show with countdown a very serious intellectual show for fun just a one off really it was such a hit they made it for real

The more that you learn the character and sense of humour of these genius lunatics, the more you become in-tune with their comedy and the funnier they are.

Even John Cooper Clarke, probably the greatest living poet is cracking up.

There is a video called *"what's the f**king point?" When comedy shows break down"* or something very similar to that, I'll try and find the link but I think that's the gist of the title, it's also a channel 4 video I think, and I believe it's got Sean Lock and the 'cats does countdown set' on the thumbnail IIRC. It will be probably between about 9-14 minutes long (Excessive detail in case I close the tab or forget to come back and post a link which is entirely plausible!!) You should consider watching a full episode of 8 out of 10 cats does countdown, pretty much any you can find is likely to be a winner tbh! They are about 45 minutes long each episode Also (again I will try to remember to find a link but I'm knackered and not making promises!) The video, I think it's another cats does countdown, 'Sean Lock's "the tiger who came for a pint" book' is excellent
