Se trata de una historia verdadera, el asesinato allá por los años 60 en el muro de Berlín por los disparos de los soldados sovieticos de un joven berlines, intentando escapar al Oeste del "Paraiso comunista" de la Alemania Oriental. Permaneció allí desangrandose varias horas, hasta que murió y nadie lo socorrió ni los unos ni los otros, mientras que los berlineses gritaban ayuda para salvar al joven.

Si Nino no hubiera fallecido, hubiera sido el mejor cantante no solo en español, hubiera cantando también en inglés. Habría sido mucho más que Julio Iglesias, un Frank Sinatra hispano.

Nino Bravo murió muy joven, en un accidente de coche. Pero el que inspiró esta canción era más joven aún, inocente, y no se le nombra. Peter Fechter, el primer fusilado por querer pasar al otro lado del muro de Berlín, donde tenía toda su vida.

La canción estaba dedicada al Alemán Peter Fechter, que con solo 18 años fue la primera víctima intentando cruzar el muro de Berlín, muere el 17 de agosto de 1962 alcanzado por disparos de guardias que custodiaban el muro.

The story behind this song is very sad. Peter Fetcher, an 18-year-old boy who was the first victim to die trying to cross the Berlin Wall in 1961. In his attempt to flee from (communist) East Berlin, when he climbed the fence leading to the other side, the guards fired, and he was seriously injured between the barbed wire and the wall, in no man's land, in the Death Zone. And there he was left bleeding because nobody can help him. People from West Berlin tried to help him, but border patrol soldiers shot everyone who tried. He died an hour later. Ten years later, Nino Bravo performed for the first time and immortalized this song. This song is base on the Soviet Union block, when the eastern part of Germany was under the communist regime. The lyrics tells about a Young boy Who always dreamt about jumping over the Berlin wall. But, unafortunally, he was shot to death.

This song has a deep background behind, is dedicated to the German guy that tried to scape from East Berlin to the other side and it was shoot several times by the army. It is an anti communist song.

Eso era lo que había: Comunismo en Berlín Oriental, no una guerra. Nada de 'no necesariamente', a las cosas se las llama por su nombre guste a quien guste. Y el desmentido no es de Nino Bravo, de hecho cuando la canción apareció se entendió clarito de qué se trataba, por ello había gente de izquierdas que la rechazaron.
