AMERICAN tries DUTCH SNACKS 🇳🇱

After living in The Netherlands I thought it was time I tried some of the Dutch traditional snacks. Some were definitely a hit and some were not so good. Do you think I missed any of the best classics?

I never forget that smell of rookworst when you walked into a Hema store when i was 7 years old. Rookworst from the Hema become a little family occasion.

Oh what a nice memory ☺️ I’ve been in HEMA many times and never really noticed the smell but I’m sure from now on I’ll always notice it!

If you want snacks, go too a snackbar... Sooo many options to try... If you want sweet stuff like cookies try a koffiewafel, i love em. If you want crisps what we call chips. Take the flavor joppiesaus. Want candy look for babbelaars or haagse hopjes

Een tompouce kan je zijn zijkant leggen. Dan kan je met een vorkje door de bladerdeeglagen heen prikken. Maakt het eten veel makkelijker en je hebt alle lagen (en dus smaken) tegelijkertijd 😌

Top tip, put the stroopwafel on your top of your coffe or tea cup for 10 minutes, to let it become soft

Erwtensoep (or Snert) is a split pea soup actually 😊 and Enkhuizer is not a family name but a reverence to the town it originated from And you should definitely try haring and kibbeling

Ah okay! Thanks for the info ☺️ I’m definitely afraid to try haring as I do not like any raw fish like sushi or anything but maybe I can give it a try. What do you think is the best way to eat haring? With the onions? Kibbeling is something I for sure would like to try!
