American Top 40/Casey Kasem Long Distance Dedication 1980 part 1

Музыка

a Long Distance Dedication from a man who wouldn't give up.
Katy and I were neighbours onWest 19th Street in Chicago. She was 11 and I was 15 when we met. That was 18 years ago. I found myself thinking about her often and couldn't explain
the butterflies in my stomach every time I saw her .
Then in 1964 I joined the navy and didn't come home until 1967. In the meantime,Katy had grown up very much.
When I returned we began to see each other and had very good relationship. But as time went on we began to fall apart. Finally in 1969 we broke up for good. Katy was almost 18 years old.
After the break up I only saw her from the distance. It was very bitter for both of us. But I loved her very much and did not want to forget her.
Five years later,in 1974, Katy's sister set up a meeting for us to see one another. It was very pleasant and we found ourselves holding and squeezing each other's hand as we left
her sister's house to go our separate ways.
For the next year we talked on the phone and wrote letters. Finally, after many tries I worked up enough nerve to ask her out and she worked up enough nerve to accept.
We've now being back for 6 years. We married, have a family and are very much in love. I love Katy more and more as time goes by so would you please play "The more I see you"
for Katy?
Signed,
JERRY.

As a 4-8 year old kid, I remember listening to Casey Kasem's smooth voice, during his countdowns on my father's huge monstrous stereo system that took up the size of a wall. during the weekends, and the few times that we would travel to places in the car. As time went on, I pretty much forgot about his countdowns through my teens and twentys. I started to favor 90s music. Pretty much all the gangster rap, rock music, and pop music and anything else that came alongside the 90s era. I didn't listen to Casey's Top 40, because I didn't know of it's existence. Anyway, the thing is that I stumbled on one of his cut-off countdown clips on KZread. The clips had detailed sounds, and radio bumpers that sent memories flooding back into my head. Now I tune in to Casey Kasem,s Classic AT40 on the i heart radio app, I'm stuck back in the 70's and 80's era music, and I can't get out......and I don't wanna try to get out. This music is FAR more superior to the garbage played now on the air.
