The 2nd one is from marocco. The regime there is opressing their citizens. People who protested on the streets were imprisoned or shot in the past. The football stadiums are one of the last places where the people have some security with the masses to adress their problems with the government. Not sure if it were the ultras from that club or another one - the ultras were travelling to an away game in the capital of marocco. The police entered the away section in the stadium and some fans were killed. There is evidence, that it might was on purpose. The killed fans were part of an anti-government movement. Not sure, if this is 100% true.

The fans in the video are FC Kenitra, but the fans that you talk about that were killed were as far as I know the ones of Raja Casablanca which is the most anti-governmant ultras group that represents the poor side of the Casablanca city

I never heard moroccan before, but it's an interesting Version of Arabic, mixed with french, spanish and Italian.

You have to differentiate between ultras and hooligans. Ultras want to support their club, throw a party and enjoy football. As with any large group, there will always be a few hotheads to start trouble, especially when they have been drinking. In general, they are very supportive and help one another. Sometimes they also use their clout to protest (like the video, a Moroccan ultra against oppression). Hooligans are less interested in football. Their primary goal is to start trouble, fight and destroy. They mix with a large group to create anonymity for themselves. Ultras are their preferred large gatherings but they will use any other large gathering (e.g. peaceful protest) for their purpose. Sometimes far-right groups use the same tactics.

Wrong; hooligans usually do appreciate football a lot, but they're just not into waving flags, flares or any other carnaval-esque madness. Just look at British firms and many other across Europe. And in eastern Europe and Latin America there really is no distinction between hoolies and ultras, although ultras always have some (or a lot) of guys among them that like to cause the atmosphere of riots, but when it comes to actual violence they run away like mice.

Pretty racist n shit. And while ultras can have hooligans within them, hooligans are very much their own kind of trash, while ultras, even with flares, will be non-violent, just loud and stuff. That's the distinction. We got hooligan groups here too in Slovenia, hell, they just wrecked a stadium last week, and injured people. They look for trouble. And they're pretty unsavoury towards minorities n shit. I hate that crap so much.

Ultras sometimes become the only place where you can freely express your views/opinions. I am from Lithuania, post soviet country. I support my local club and part of small utras group. Ultras group was started during soviet occupation. It was forbiden to use Lithuanian flag during that period, but one day someone brought it to the stand. Game after game more and more people started bringing flags, sing songs about freedom and independence. That is how my ultras group was formed. It is called Pietų 4 ( south 4 ) because of the stand where fans used to go

I'm a fan of VfL Bochum 1848 and always in the stands. Not an ultra,but standing directly betweem them and most of them are really nice guys with so much passion for the club. Of course there are a few rules like not filming in the block and singing when you are directly in the block. But as I said, most of them are nice guys and you can talk to them normally without any aggression. Yeah, they will provocate the other teams, but most of the time ultras don't have anything to do with violence against normal fans (most of the times they will meet each other on a big field and fight fair and square against other ultras/hools).

The best way i can describe it is its like a religion and your home stadium is your cathedral, playing an away game is going into someone elses and trying to storm the fortress, so to speak, its another reason home and away fans are kept separate, sometime fights break out with home and away fans, in America its more like you guys are customers, in Europe the club represents your city/area, so by extension represents you, and the person standing next to you feels the same, honestly if your supporting the same team, the crowd is probably the best place to be at a game, they do get a bit rowdy but they're all good guys really

This brilliant nonsense of the passion of the game is simply that. It’s nonsense. They are multi billion dollar corporations bleeding their ever expanding customers dry. But, as long as the fans see the club above all else, fantastic news. The moment fans do something else constructive and don’t go is the moment the club owners start to take notice. And that my friend is exactly why wealthy people buy football clubs. It matters not what rubbish is produced, the sheep like fans may complain but always buy the rubbish. Excellent business. What other business can you buy, where the customers treat your company almost like a religion for decades. Fathers even encourage their sons to carry on this tradition. What a beautiful business. Still, the fans may complain, but why on earth would they care. The fans are meaningless to them. They are simply there to be bled of their cash.

@eavyeavy2864 to some fans they have an almost religious devotion to their club, the stadium is their cathedral and the club represents their city/area, hence is an extension of the people, it can get very tribal and some do go over the top (fighting and that in the name of the club) which is why home and away fans are given separate areas in the stadium, believe it or not most fans get rowdy but are sensible (don't get into any bother) I say to people if you don't go looking for trouble in all likelihood you'll be fine, depending on who your playing or whats going on it can get intense in the stadium, but generally it's a laugh with your mates and a match can be an excuse to meet up in the pub at 9am and be on the booze most of the day

Ultras in North Africa (2nd clip is Morocco) are actually really large movement of the young generation. Often the young and progressive against the dictatorship regimes. Ultras played a massive role in the Arab Spring and the revolutions against dictators in several countries. Especially in Egypt. Now of course, all the hopes that came with the Arab spring are pretty much gone now. They are either dictatorships again with a different dictator now, or failed states still in civil war. Tunesia maybe being the only bit of hope still left for Democracy in the Arab world. A lack of Secularism and a free society are mutually exclusive... And it would appear that the Arab culture has aspects to it that seem to be particularly reluctant to let go of their all-powerful imaginary friends. If that was different, they'd probably be topping all charts for human development by now, given where the Middle East already was in terms of development 1000 or so years ago.

I agree that the Kenitra chants is about much much more than the reactors idea of the two sides to a story about hooliganism or the ¨fine line¨ between hooliganism and ultra support . I think in other countries that may be true but not in North-Africa. There is a good compilation ¨anti corruption chants Morocco¨. Also Tunis has a heartbreaking and beautifull chant, i forgot the name of it.

~ 7:50 - 10:00 : Ultra's dance on the fine line of "acceptable" but depending how close you are it can be hard to see the full scope of it, on the one hand they are (obviously) amazing supporters of their club, on the other they go "over the line" sometimes and break stuff etc and that doesn't help anyone, meanwhile on the third hand they will actually do things for the community around the club and/or the actual people living around the club (and this last part is overlooked way to often) The problem with the whole thing is that some small percentage of ultra's is literally there just to break stuff and have fights etc, but you can't really blame the rest of them for that, that would be some kind of generalization akin to racism or something, so the fact that their chants are sometimes political actually makes sense, 95% of what they do is well within the law but media & government etc like to focus on the 5% and make it seem like that's all they do. In an ideal world, Ultra's would self-govern a bit more than they do, it does happen sometimes but not enough in my opinion, just distance yourself from the 'extreme core' and/or hand those over to police if sh*t hits the fan, that way government & media should hopefully come to understand that most of these people are just passionate fans that don't actually do anything wrong. Some ultra groups do do this, like if somebody seems more interested in breaking stuff then actually supporting the club, but generally they just don't want to work with the police & don't care as much as they should about some of the motives of some of their fellow Ultra's. The whole thing is a minefield of freedoms & rights, the solution that seems most common is clubs give these people their own bespoke section of the stands with its own entry/exit routes (clear separation from 'normal fans') and there are often rules in place that define "acceptable limits", if some small riot happens okay fine, whatever, club or (local) government will pay for it and we move on. If something big happens then the next (few) time(s) the club plays the fans are not allowed to come to the stadium, that seems to work well enough as a deterrent for big trouble with Ultra's all over the EU in the last decade or so. Some Ultra's will try ignore such rules and then the government steps in and goes "hey guys i thought we had an understanding, not cool! Since you like rioting and fighting so much, here's a few bus-loads worth of 'swat'/riot teams with non-lethals, good luck" usually resulting in 75% or so of the 'extreme core' all getting arrested/charged/fined/etc & often also leading to some people then being 'handed over' by the ultra's in the week or so after the incident. Most ultra's don't mind a bit of riot, but when the big charges happen they do generally understand that that's just "bad press" for them and will try counterbalance that by handing over some that were seen on cctv footage etc. All in all, im pro-Ultra's but anti-some-Ultra's, like you said it's only some small percentage of them that's a bit of an issue, the rest is just extremely passionate fans not hurting anybody or anything.

True supporters will support their team as hard as they can as long as players give their all on the field. If you run/press the opponent and fight for the ball and supporters can see you want to win they will cheer with you for hours after the game. Win or lose it does not matter. Ultras definitely have a worse reputation than they deserve. For example in Germany. Ultras are the reason, that the atmosphere in the German football stadiums is far the best in the Top 5 leagues right now. They even have a grat impact on the football business. They were proesting (without any violance) the last 3 month against the DFL (German Football League Association) and their plans to work with an investor. Together with the other fans they were able to stop the plans. So they have impact on financial decisions and of course big companies and the media don't like that at all. The German media is very anti-Ultras all the time and post lies over lies to denounce the Ultras. Yes there are some idiots in the Ultra groups as well, but that's just like everywhere. Try to find atleast one bigger group of people without some black sheeps - thats impossible.

The last one are Malaysian national team supporters I think. Or some of their local clubs.

Joel (JPS), to find Ultra's all you have to do is head down south & cross the boarder. Mexico has some crazy ultras. 20/09/2019 Violence in the stands during the Mexican Liga MX clash between Atletico San Luis and Queretaro saw the match suspended, with at least 37 spectators reportedly injured in the chaos. A full on riot was on, rival fans were using weapons & it took the police & security to stop the violence. Fly a bit further south, into Brazil or Argentina or pretty much any South American country. Any local derby will see the fans out in full. I'd probably stay clear of Ecuador & Paraguay, until the trouble settles down.

Never mix up Ultras with Hooligans. Ultras are some kind of fundamentalst supportes of the club, doing choreos, pyros, chantas, visisting ever game and maybe, MAYBE!, sometimes get in some fights with other especially rival clubs. And what often get lost in media since Ultras are always "the bad ones", at least in Germany Ultra organizations do also so many social projects and support social facilies, helping after some bad events like floodings, collecting gifts and bring it to the people etc. I would say some Ultra fan organization do more for society than politic does, although Germany already has a more or less social politics. Whereas Hooligans just visit games to fight the police or any oponent fans, some times even the ohn fans. Hooligans aren't football/soccer fans. They just idiots. There are also organized fights between fangroups, they meet somewhere with a certain amount if people and do e.g. 20 vs. 20. This is more like a sports event and more or less with rules and fair. And this is ok, they beat up each other, but all of them are aware of this and agree with it, not just slaying random people like the hooligan idiots.

One thing i don't like in general, is when f.e. you love violence and fights, without any consideration for other "normal" fans (kids, family, older folks) that also paid to enjoy the game, and then cry about the state "accusing" you of being violent and criminal. That stupid victim-reverse-card. A few years ago, cops raided an appartment buidling for refugees in my hometown. They found drugs (dealer amounts) on 3 occasions during this raid. Then there was a big outcry, because the raid supposedly took place out of racial profiling. The dealers and parts of the public actually victimized the arrested. I totally could have agreed, if no drugs would have been found. But EVERYBODY in town knew, thats where you go to buy shit... If you do the crime, do the time. Football hooligans were certainly a serious blight on the game 20 yrs ago, particularly in England, Scotland, and Italy. By today, however, other than the kinds of offences one would typically see whenever 100,000 people gather together, serious issues of violence and destruction are mainly limited to South America and to terrible racist chants in places such as Serbia, Hungary, and Turkey.

I am no fan of ultras at all. This reaches a level of fanatics and this is never good. Not in sports, not in religion or politics. There is always just one right opinion and no other viewpoint is accepted. In Germany in Potsdam is a soccer club SV Babelsberg 09 and if they play against another regional club there has to be so much police present, that I thought it would be a maneuver in case of the 3. WW. In Bochum a group of 20 - 30 fans were chasing one single fan of the opponents and you don't want to know what happened after they caught him. Those are like animals...

You mixed ultras with hooligans. Those are to different groups which can support the same club, but not all of them wants violence and fights. Ultras are more the peolpe who makes all the choreo, most of the songs/chants and the nice football atmosphere in the stadiums. The hooligang looking primary for troubles and fights againts the oponents or the police. And the biggest hooligans are the policemans acctualy.
