@@rnw2739 Interesting that you should mention Cooky, since, according to Harry Thompson, during his infamous bouts of intoxication, he would often contact Mr Conolly seeking ideas for anecdotes. It was, after all, Billy who supplied the "player of the pink oboe" line. Nevertheless, while I'm not necessarily the biggest Kenneth Williams fan - he could be an obnoxious snob - the three you've quoted were certainly deft raconteurs

Saw him live at the Hammersmith odeon (Apollo) many years ago and people were actually rolling in the aisles they were laughing so much, and once he has you,he’s relentless until you beg for a chance to breathe. I took my friend for her Birthday as being Scottish she was a huge Billy Connolly fan and I can assure you that we were both laughing so much the tears were running down our faces and we were begging him to stop as we laughed so much our sides were hurting, as was the whole audience. My Dad used to frequent a pub in Scotland called 'The Clachan' (The Stones in English) in a place called Drymen (pronounced Drimmin - NOT Dry Men!) before other career factors took Billy to America. He was a 'local' or bar regular, and just a humble guy. I got to go fishing with him when I was aged 12, and on the way home, we stopped in a small village to get 'fish 'n chips.' My Dad gave me the money and sent me to order the food for the adults. Billy came in to check that I was okay, and the place erupted when they realised who it was. Can you imagine how that felt as a 12 year old to have Billy Connolly checking in? The man is a hero, and I will always value that beyond other examples.

Hahah brilliant reaction mate, I can’t recommend Billy enough. He is a true legend of stand up and one of if not the best story teller comedian ever. Even if you can’t post reactions, I suggest checking out his 40+ years of stand up and interviews. Himself and Robin Williams (they were good friends) just took over interviews on talk shows. He done a few series a while back which you should check out yourself, he called them “Billy Connellys world tour of “ and he done Scotland, England Ireland and wales, and Australia. He actually filmed himself travelling around the country finding out about them and inserting stand up clips from the local shows he done in that area. Mini documentary with stand up. All of them are amazing.

I rarely comment but had to on this one! I saw this back in the day when it broadcast on HBO the year it was made. It is titled "Whoopie Goldberg presents Billy Connolly" from the early 80's. It was his first performance in the US as I understand. Whoopie's opening joke was pretty fantastic as well. It is very hard to find a decent copy of the entire show, but it is out there if you look, and it is WELL worth the effort.

Billy sadly has Parkinson's Disease and no longer performs, but he is still _immensely_ loved here in the UK. He was Michael Parkinson's* all-time favourite chat-show guest and Billy appeared alongside Michael many times if you want to hear him just chatting and still being absolutely hilarious. Parkinson (affectionately known here as 'Parky') was - from 1971-2007 - our leading chat show host, pre-GN, and interviewed over 2,000 international stars. It's worth rooting out on YT the clip of his nadir - Meg Ryan - it's an _excruciating_ interview, and Parky quite openly rated it as his least favourite interview of all time. Also, if you've not already started on Dave Allen, you really should!

I have been on a plane with Billy. Well, on the same plane as Billy. It was only a 90 minute connecting flight so it wasn't a very big plane 100-150 passengers. As we're about to leave the gate and taxi to the runway he stands up and says "I can hear you all mumbling and wondering if it is me and I can now reveal it is me. I'm on my way back from a long flight from Australia, and not to be rude but if you want a picture or an autograph come get it now, you have 5 minutes before I tell you all to fook off and leave me in peace. In return I'll buy everyone a drink. Just leave me the fook alone." Hahaha. But he was a very charming guy. There was a mix up in our tickets so when checking in they had to cancel our tickets and re-issue new ones so my 12 year old son got separated from me and my Grandmother. He ended up being sat next to Billy and I was sitting just behind them and my grandmother a few rows back. Billy asked if I wanted to swap with him but I said it was fine and to give the boy a slap if he gives you any shit. lol. But he was a genuine nice guy. He chatted constantly to me and my lad about general day to day things. In all honesty he was the one talking to us .. He was just so full of questions he wanted to know everything, where we lived what we did, where we grew up, the games we played, food, drink, hobbies. That's what comedians do I suppose gather stories from people and turn them into jokes ...

"Dwarf-on-a-bus" is the funniest story ever, lol! I heard him tell it at a live gig. He's known in Scotland as The Big Yin.....yin means one. He's been in a lot of movies, including the last of the Hobbit trilogy, and some British-made non-adventures. Very talented actor.

I don`t know if you will be able to put this on your channel but you really must see An Audience with Billy Connolly. It contains an incontinence pants sketch. So funny. It relates to the adverts in newspapers where all kinds of useless items are for sale. It has a celebrity audience who fall about laughing. An American who understands Brit humour is a real gem. Love both you and your girlfriend`s reacts❤

This video is from a set "Whoopi Goldberg presents" (took me forever to find it). As far as I know, this may have been one of his first sets in the US. This was my first time seeing him and saw it for the first time back in the early 90s and still to this day is one of my most favorite sets. His set is about 30 min or so and is complete magic and genius.

Love the start of the video, that is exactly how I feel about those people who complain about reactors "reacting" to a video. Even if I've seen what you're reacting to several times before I watch it for how you respond to it which surely is the point. The original video is out there if you really must watch it undisturbed.
