A towel on the head like that (for me at least) stops excess water running from the hair down my back, over my shoulders etc - it usually soaks it up pretty fast and can then be taken off.

Same here and it also keeps the wet hair out of my face, while I do the first part of my after-shower skincare routine. I use towel turbans at this point, though. I never did it when I had short hair, cause... what'd be the point, lol.

guy with long hair here. scrubbing short hair with a towel is no biggie, but long hair will get tangled, frizzed and split with time. Hard to comb, style and quickly looks like a bird nest. If you let it airdry, a cold draft will quickly give you a headache or stiff neck. throwing a towel over solves it and keeps water from dripping down your neck. Also , sometimes you're just too lazy for the airdryer or want to spend the time with music/ watching a show as you chill. Why bob uses the towel- dunno. force of habit?

A towel wrapped around the head is very necessary. It absorbs water before you have to blow dry. Less hairdryer time, less damage to the hair and if you have long hair and don’t wrap your hair in a towel it just drips on you.

Women, traditionally, have long hair, so wrapping a towel around their heads helps to absorb the water within wet hair much faster than trying to dry it by rubbing, like us short haired men do! 😁 GW Grace was an English cricketer, (arguably the best ever), who had a huge bushy beard. The least feminine looking person you can imagine.
