This brings back memories of the American 8th Army Air Corps in England during world war two. I was a young impressionable boy back then,, and I saw the Fortress's fly out on the raids over Germany. Many never came back. We saw the young American airmen on our steets and we heard their music - Glen Miller. Many went to their deaths, having the night before danced to that particular piece: American Patrol. Rest in Peace - we who saw them will never forget them.

My dad served in WWII with the 8th Army Air Corps in England. He was stationed in Kings Cliffe, close to Peterborough in England. So I grew up listening and enjoying the big band sound, especially Glenn Miller. He told me that while he was stationed there, the Glenn Miller Band performed at the airbase in Kings Cliffe and he got to hear them. I always thought it would have been so much fun to hear his music live. I just recently did some research and read that Glenn Miller's last live performance was in Kings Cliffe. Now I am wondering if this was the performance that my dad got to see and hear. My dad has passed away and I wish I had asked him if this was indeed Glenn Miller's last performance. Before he passed away, I did manage to take my dad to 2 performances of the traveling Glenn Miller Band. I do recommend to anyone that loves this music to attend if the band comes to your town.

Always a crowd favorite. I play in a similar band that plays this same arrangement. We sometimes see youth groups wearing period dress and swing dance to this immortal piece. It is encouraging to know that there are groups of teens, in scattered pockets of the US, who are fortunate to have grownups exposing them to this timeless jazz and the dance steps that go with it. The amount of pure fun they have dancing to American Patrol, and many other immortal tunes like it, is immense. This is a superb band, and I like their side by side layout. Maybe we should set up the same way...

"He may have 'arranged' it for your band, but that song is probably older than I am." Whenever I hear this song, I think of Bill Holston (our band director) and my dad. Wish they'd put on the show that glenn did. Good music but no soul, no humor, no show. Glen used put his slide in the drummers face. The would jump around and put on a show. That's half of what made Glenn's stand out from the rest.

Wish they'd put on the show that glenn did. Good music but no soul, no humor, no show. Glen used put his slide in the drummers face. The would jump around and put on a show. That's half of what made Glenn's stand out from the rest.

Lordy, lordy, that's a dead-on identical version of the classic WWII song. It sends shivers up my old spine! If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that Mr. Miller himself was there in his white coat leading the band with his trombone, too!
I like to listen to this type of music. Also classic stuff also. I saw the Glen Miller story on on of the movie channels but never got to see the end of it. I heard he never came home. R.IP. Mr. Miller may your music continue to inspire all who hear it. Thank you.

Glenn promised to play his wife favorite song little brown jug on the radio broadcast if he made it there alright. Just before they played the song the radio announcer said the Glenn's plane was missing.

Of my parents generation, but what is not to like? Miller was awesome.
Great music. Can’t get better. From a baby boomer. Love swing.
This band did justice to the original. Kudos.
Wow!!!! That was fantastic! Bravo! Bravo!

Margot Shelby I think so too. I was born in 1969 but I still am in love with the ww2 swing era big band era. I talk about this with people in their 90s which lights up a smile on their face.
Alain 11. J'ai vu cet orchestre, merveilleux. Je suis fan et j'ai été surpris du solo d'un jeune batteur.
boa musica é bem vinda a qualquer hora ,muito bom.
Why do I get emotional when listening to this music?
Esta hermosa música es un remanso de paz de nuestro inefable pasado!!! 🌸👍🇲🇽🌷
I like it when they do it to the original.
I must have seen them right about this time ... there were two versions touring the country, and I saw them in Milwaukee. The legacy has been richly handed down. It will always be the music that won the war.

This is so awesome...just letting it play. How can you have a bad day after listening to this music!
Wonderful! I could not stop my foot from bouncing. And the memories from WWII... Oh how I respect those men who fought in that war. This song helped me imagine being one of them.

Remenber my dad, he loves this music
OMG ! pure masterpiece !
Great playing and a wonderful sound mix. Shame the tempo starts at 180bpm and ends at 196 bmp! It was intended as a dance number so a stricter tempo would have been expected. Nevertheless, still a good performance.
love this music
This is my favorite.
