I'm 68 years old and heard this when I was a kid... This was Dad and Mom's music as teens. I've loved it then and really love it now. Dad, I wish I was your brother sometimes and not your son... just to have lived at this great time in big band music, and to hear and dance to this kind of music would have been awesome.🎶🎶🎵🎷🎺🥁

I am old enough to have seen the Great Miller Band performing in England during world war two. The band was an inspiration to us all in those dark days. Listening to this brings all the old memories back. Super - Glen Miller and his band are Playing Again. Thanks for the memories.

Greetings from Addis Ababa Ethiopia. I concur with fellow friends who commented about the music already. I tried to read about 150 out of the 1150 comments on this post alone. I am so surprised to see the wealth of personal stories from those comments. Stories of music lovers all across the world, men and women young and old. Memories during the war, memories of grandparents, parents, sisters brothers, memories of a particular event, place, or time countless stories in this single video alone. If there are good journalists, they can write more than 4 pages of newspaper articles from this post alone. God bless you for sharing the music with us.

THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! That kept a big grin on my 68 year old face...the whole time! My most favorite music is Big Band! Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Chic Webb, Fletcher Hinderson, Kit Orie, Jackie Gleason & the list goes on and on- you could retain the melodies in your head and whistle while you worked. (I imagine that's where Disney got his slogan). The stuff they call music, now a days, has NO melody. It is just noise! Listening to this video, of the New Glen Miller Big Band is like breathing fresh air out in the woods around a branch! God bless! Bill from Tn. 🇺🇸

Great to hear music from the Big Band Era kinda like it, and can see where the origin of Rock music has its roots bands like MSFTB, Chicago, et al the offshoots from then to the times we’ve come to...

Brings back many beautiful memories. The old saying, You can never go back is put to rest with these guys. Thank you, George Traganos

@@jamescampoccio1152 He did die in service, but not because the plane was shot down. Historians from his alma mater, the University of Colorado, did 2-year investigation about a decade ago. Miller was scheduled to travel to Paris on Dec. 12 1944 to finalize his orchestra's transfer to the Continent. He was repeatedly delayed by weather and opted to hitch a ride with a poker buddy instead of waiting. What he didn't know was that: > the flight was unauthorized and not cleared for travel > the plane, a tiny UC-64 transport, had a defective fuel system > weather over the Channel was still bad > the plane's pilot wasn't qualified for adverse conditions The UC-64 was seen by coast spotters on the standard SHAEF non-combat flight path, so it's known they weren't in a combat zone and were too far away from the RAF bomb-drop range to have been hit by jettisoned ordnance. The most probable reasons for the crash were either engine failure, pilot error, or a combination of both. 😢😢

Glenn Miller Orchestra Biography Alton Glenn Miller (March 1, 1904-presumably December 15, 1944), was an American jazz musician, arranger, composer, and band leader in the swing era. He was one of the best-selling recording artists from 1939 to 1942, leading one of the best known "Big Bands". Miller's signature recordings include: "In the Mood", "Tuxedo Junction", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "Moonlight Serenade", "Little Brown Jug", and "Pennsylvania 6-5000". He's notable as well for playing numerous times for the U.S. military. While travelling to entertain U.S. troops in France during World War II, Miller's plane disappeared in bad weather. His body was never found. The Glenn Miller Orchestra was originally formed in 1937 by Glenn Miller. It's unique, tight and popular sound was produced by arranging for a clarinet and tenor saxophone playing melody, while three other saxophones played the harmony. Miller had already formed one band before this in 1936, but he dissolved it as he considered it too similar to other bands of the era. After the disappearance (and presumed death) of Miller in 1944, the band was reconstituted under the direction of Tex Beneke, its lead tenor saxophonist, singer, and one of Miller's longtime close friends. A few years later, the Miller estate, having parted ways with Beneke, hired Ray McKinley, principal drummer in Miller's Army Air Force band, to organize a new "ghost band" in 1956. The group went on, playing as a tribute to Miller's memory.
