Australia didnt "BAN GUNS" (blanket statement) ... our farmers still have no problems getting them, for example. But we got rid of guns that farmers don't need (they dont need AR-15s/semi-automatic assault rifles). We introduced background checks - you cannot buy a gun if youre a psychopath. We introduced a 28-day delay to getting your gun - this gives you time to calm the F down. We introduced a need to show WHY you need a gun. Farmers need a gun.... I don't. And how did we get rid of the guns? The government introduced a gun buyback scheme with professional gun owners doing the appraisals so that everyone who turned in their gun was paid a GOOD AMOUNT for it. It's worked in Australia, it's worked in Britain, it's worked in New Zealand. Long story short: IT'S JUST COMMON SENSE, like getting a license to drive a car.

Perth is a big city, so that is a lot of guns; however, there has been no substantial rise in gun crime here which shows the gun laws that were introduced are working.

I didn't do great (hadn't held a firearm before then), but I did alright and got better with every shot. The fact that, at 14 years old, I held an instruement that meant I could end the lives of multiple people before they knew I was even a threat is not something I would entrust to the average member of the public

The problem with the Wild West mentality, the whole "good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun", is that when the bad guy with a gun starts some shit, then the "good guys" would actually need to step up and *do something promptly before anyone else gets killed.* And if the Uvalde shooting showed us anything, it showed that you can't always even trust the apparent "good guys" to take action to protect the lives of others. The Las Vegas Sun reported in July 2022 that mass shooters are three times more likely to be stopped by an _unarmed_ civilian than by an armed one, and *eight* times more likely to be stopped by shooting themselves. Even if you want the Wild West mentality, guns are no good at all if people don't care about others enough to actually _use_ them.

Guns aren’t banned in the UK it’s a myth they are just highly regulated and only certain guns you can own. I’m sure it’s the same in Australia as well or similar, there’s videos about it you could react to as well. Like Jim says in the 2nd video it’s an “amendment” it can be amended and it doesn’t necessarily mean everyone has there guns taken off them. I love your videos but that “everyone should have guns” is most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard 😂 These nutters plan these massacres if they think all staff have guns they’ll just target them first it’s not rocket science

As much as I love videogames, I have to admit that it does cause violence, movies too. It creates a correlation of violence as a problem solving tool and a fascination for weapons. Not in everyone, just the bottom 10-20% of kids who are born or made psychos. It makes them open to influences. As much as you want to teach them responsibility, as much as you want them to live consciously, there's always something in the US to remind them that guns aren't out of their reach.

Eventhough we are living with more people on this earth, so in theory it's easier to get into a conflict. Supposedly porn and legalized prostitution reduce rape. Even reduce the divorce rate. Same with people who go to train boxing, etc. they end up reducing violence because they have an outlet. Same with some people who listen to metal music it makes them calm down their rage/anger. I'm all for not glorifying violence, etc. and maybe have laws to do so. But I think we actually need to show violence in for example war movies to show it's something we want to prevent.

Psychological tests, having respected members of the public vouch for you and follow some very strict rules on how to keep one for examples. Speaking as a European, the fact anyone in your country feels they need a gun to feel safer (because you won't feel safe - guns don't stop bullets when they've been fired - is pretty damn sad. Guns aren't banned in Australia just sensibly regulated. You just need a reason to own one and have a license. Automatics and Semi Automatics with a clip bigger then five shots are banned. Hand guns can only be used on ranges. There are other regs around storage and transportation but that is pretty much it.

Some people love to talk about the founding fathers and the constitution and the second amendment. What is rarely spoken or thought of is the fact that the union that was created descended into a horrible civil war less than 80 years after the forming of the union. The entire notion of arming a democratic republic to fight against a tyrannical government is insanity. In most forms of democracy, the losing side in elections are getting government they don't want. Tyranny. Close to 50% of people in all democracies are living under tyranny as long as the people are divided. The more bitter the divides, the more tyrannical the government. In the US, the people have always been divided (the Puritan colonists were bitterly divided - one of the founders of the original colonies had to run for his life in the New England winter from other Puritan founders). All that was done with the second amendment was arming the people to fight against each others tyranny. Americans are simply worshiping the ability to take up arms against one another. The people are the government. The people are divided so the government is divided. Any society where the people have to arm themselves to protect one another from themselves is not a very good model for a society and there are major forces with major armies on this planet that believe that not only is western democracy not a good social model, but that it is a threat to their social model. Americans need to work on that more perfect union thing as fast as they can.

In the UK everyone is allowed a gun BUT You have to have a gun license. To get the license, you have to PROVE why you need one. Then you have to PROVE you can handle a gun properly( been trained) and the you have to pass a psychiatric tests certified by a doctor. Then if you get the license, store you gun in a glassless cupboard, locked, with the ammo stored elsewhere, plus you have to renew it every year. There is one more requirement and that is your Police Officers have to be TRAINED. In the UK it takes 28 weeks to train a Police Officer. To carry a gun, he has to be trained as a Armed Response Officer- that means a further 1-3/4 years of training. Renewed each year. Guess what. We dont have any mass gun killings of children. Guns are NOT toys irrespective of the 2nd amendment. You are RESPONSIBLE. There is no self defence law in the UK that allows you shoot someone. Now you see just how far America is from being free. Free to walk the streets or let your kids play out, without fear of guns. Thats FREEDOM. Want to really experience FREEDOM go stay anywhere in Europe for at least 6 weeks and see if you still dont agree.

To each their own guys but they're not trying to stop people from protecting themselves, but if they let EVERYONE buy guns just because, how many more murders would there be if EVERYONE had a pistol, unprovoked at that

There's no reason to own a gun unless you're a farmer or you have bears coming to your house. If guns were banned the number of gun crimes and mass shootings would drop significantly. You have 500+ mass shootings every year. You are basically numb to School shootings because they happen so often. I grew up in a rough part of Dublin, robbed cars and drugs/dealers were normal to me but after 10 years living in the countryside it's not "normal" anymore.

We have guns In Australia. Especially where I'm from out west Qld every second person goes pigging (hunting pigs) etc but there is legal ways to get them, they need to be secure usually now you need to be associated with a "gun club" that kind of sponsors you I guess. Yes illegal guns are still here of course, lots also

Port Arthur Massacre (1996) was 35 killed, 23 wounded. It was surpassed by the Las Vegas mass shooting - but that happened after this special.

As sad as it was, he went to NZ to do his crime because he couldnt get access to enough weapons here in Australia to carry out his plan. Gun control actually worked, it was just unfortunate that NZ people were a casualty :(

You said let everybody have guns that means that would include rapists gang members criminals and actual people who are looking to just kill people. So your logic is very very misled.

35 people were killed at Port Arthur...and 24 injured in 1996. The Jim Jefferies video was recorded in 2014....3 years before the Las Vegas shooting of 61.
