@@cookiecloudy Of course it’s not for everyone but I live in the Netherlands where Indonesian food is literally totally absorbed in the culture since the fifties. There’s a big Indonesian section in every supermarket and also specialized Toko’s in every small town. If the Dutch embrace it like that you bet there’s a big audience out there waiting to discover it.

Adding another perspective of the religion option, it is also based on the pillars of Pancasila which is kind of a main ideology that Indonesia implies, and the first of them is basically says that “God is Great and We Trust in God”. So, in sum, Indonesians both citizens or residents who permanently stay have to choose one of the religion option there are.

That chicken church is just an architecture disaster. It's supposed to look like a dove but it ended up looking like a chicken and that building got abandoned. It became a tourist spot. What people should know about INA is that it has pyramids older than the ones in Egypt. Most diverse coral spots. Was a huge empire before colonization that includes southern thailand, southern philippines, malaysia, singapore, east timor with vessel states that's now south vietnam and cambodia. And they also defeated the mongols that tried to overtake the islands And in 1945 defeated the dutch and claimed independence (it wasn't given) Early settlements in Madagascar came from kalimantan island in indonesia. Later on the east africans arrived there and mixed with the others Malagasy language is also closely related to the indonesian languages. They're categorized under the austronesian language.

so regarding the volcanoes (which mostly in the island of Java), we are basically got used to them, I myself, grew up in a valley in between four different volcanoes in a small city called Malang in the East of Java. my hometown is basically surrounded by volcanoes; East are Semeru and Bromo and west are the volcanoes of Arjuna and Welirang. so when you come to Malang and feel a little shake, it's not always an earthquake but probably just one of those four volcanoes 'coughing' a little. my mom even able to guess which volcanoes amongst those 4 which actually acting out (Semeru would -most often- caused heavy rain after an eruption; while a little shake most likely from Bromo, as Arjuno and Welirang are currently dormant so they produce sulfur and hot springs in areas such as Cangar and Pacet) so dont be surprised if you come to Java and you see people are working normally around active volcanoes; these volcanoes to us are like our 'grandparents' who get grumpy once in a while hehehehe about the religion; the religion is indeed registered in the ID card, because in our foundation of nation (Pancasila) the first of five percepts of Pancasila is Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa which means: The Belief in All Mighty God; then Humanity is the second, Unity of the Nation is the third, fourth is basically the foundation of Democracy, the fifth is Social Justice for the people.

I am indonesian, and thank you for the video. I'll give you some information. A lot of people lives near volcanoes here. Since the land near volcanoes are so fertile, so a lot of farmers live near volcanoes, and when the volcanoes erupt, they'll evacuate. After things calm down, they back to their homes, rebuilt their houses and replant. There is even some villages so close to the crater, around 3 to 3,5 kilometers from the Merapi volcano in Central Java. Every ethnic group usually have their own dishes and cuisines, we even have different specialties among towns and city. Our best food is Rendang, ranked 1st in CNN's World's 50 best food in 2011 and 2017. It is a beef meat dish that cooked for a very long time with a lot of spices, and it quite spicy as well. Also, our food is mostly spicy, and flavorful, since we have a lot kinds of spices. Not everything is bigger here, the bat that shown in the video are quite small, there is even a species of frog/toad that as small as our finger nail in papua (correct me if im wrong). Again, thank you. By the way, you could watch our travel sites videos, like best place to visit in indonesia, and maybe our foods too, there is a lot of videos like that. Cheers!

20:40 FYI, many of Malaysia's population are descendants of immigrants from the archipelago that is now the Republic of Indonesia. the Malay ethnicity and language, which make up the majority in Malaysia, actually originate from the island of Sumatra, which is now part of Indonesian territory. the percentage of ethnic Malays in Indonesia is far greater than in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, three countries whose national language is Malay. that is why, why there are many cultural similarities between Indonesia and Malaysia. 21:36 Cultural religion is also recognized in Indonesia as "belief in one supreme God". so, it is fine not to follow any of the six official religions. atheism is officially prohibited, however, atheists, in their identity cards or passports, always write one of the six official religions. but that rule does not apply to foreigners or visiting tourists. for foreigners or tourists, religious or not, theist or atheist, it doesn't matter. the Indonesian government does not question the beliefs of other citizens. the rules regarding religious obligations in Indonesia only apply to Indonesian citizens.

The unique facts about Jogja (Yogyakarta): it's actually a kingdom (monarchy). It has royal palace, a Sultan (King), a queen, princes & princesses (royal family) as well that existed & ruled the kingdom since 1755 until now. But since 1945, The Kingdom of Yogyakarta & it's people officially declared that they joined The Republic of Indonesia🇮🇩. The Kingdom of Yogyakarta has its own rules, but also follow Indonesian law. That's why the full name of Jogja is "Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta" (Special Region of Yogyakarta). Because it's indeed special. Coz it's a kingdom (with the Sultan/King as the leader), but this kingdom is inside the Republic of Indonesia🇮🇩 (with the president as the leader).

Hi, I'd like to answer your question regarding the so called "official religions of Indonesia", and what happened if a person chose not to be part (or believe) in one of those "official religions of Indonesia." 1. It is a bit hard not to be part (or believe) in one of those "official religions of Indonesia", because the system required all citizens to be part in one of those religions (as it's written clearly on the national ID card) 2. I saw many indigenous people that don't have the ID card, because they live in the jungles, mountains, and they're rarely connected to the outside world, so then they can keep their own religions (polytheism, etc.) 3. What happened if we don't want to be associated / be part of / believe in one of those "official religions of Indonesia", well at least pick something to write on the ID card (chose one) and that's it. The government would never enforce the citizens to practice those "official religions of Indonesia" of course not. You can do whatever you want include breaking the religious law (drink alcohol, eat pork, extramarital sex, etc.) as long as you have one of those "official religions of Indonesia". Just make it official on the ID card and nobody would care. PS: if you want to go to Indonesia to travel, I can help you with budgeting trust me I know prices here more than numbeo dot com. PS2: I read your hashtag #roadto100k, I think if you travel to Indonesia you'd get a lot more than 100k subscribers 🤣

So the thing about religion. . . It's kinda really important in Indonesia, yes you can't officially being an atheist in Indonesia because in Indonesian ID there's a religion section which must be filled, and the nation foundation of ideology which is Pancasila (five principle) have the first line being "keTuhanan yang Maha Esa" (belief in the almighty God) forced the people to choose 1 faith out of the 6 recognised religion by the nation, so yeah you can't be an atheist at least not officially in Indonesia.

What you should know is that Indonesia became independent by fighting against the invaders, and if Malaysia became independent it was assisted by the British state, so the Indonesian and Malaysian accents are also different.
