Padahal kalo Indonesia berani mengelola minyak sawit, kita bisa jadi pemasok minyak terbesar di dunia. Selain karna panennya yang terbilang singkat, 4 tahun sekali, lahan perkebunannya masih selalu bisa dikelola bahkan setelah panen, jadi resiko terhadap kerusakan alam nya kecil karna pohon kelapa sawit mengandung minyak jenuh yg lebih banyak yg bikin pohon sawit bisa bertahan lebih lama daripada tanaman lainnya yg mengandung minyak.

Hello, I am Indonesian here You're right about the water level In the pleistocene/ice age, the western part of Indonesia (sumatra, java, bali, lombok, madura, kalimantan) was landmass of Asia, also linked with Sulawesi and The Philippines thru narrow peninsula (as marked by Wallace /Wallacea line). The eastern part, which is now Papua, was linked with Australia (lydekker line) hence we do have animals, such as marsupial, similar to Australia thr only (significant) ones not linked to any continents were Banda isles and Maluku/halmahera isles. So these isles have distinct native flora and fauna not seen anyplace else. An interesting note is Pulau Run in Banda Isles was the island that was bartered with Manhattan in Dutch - British agreement. Banda isles, at that time, was the only placr in the world to find nutmeg.

It is very interesting to discuss language. In Indonesia the majority use 2 languages in their daily life. Indonesian when formal or meeting people from other tribes. And each ethnic language when with family or neighbors in one tribe. However, in big cities often only using Indonesia language. Indonesia lang is quite successful in being accepted by all ethnic groups because it is not only for communication but as a state identity (indonesians have a high pratriotism attitude).

Food suggestions for first timer: Nasi Goreng and/or Mie Goreng (Fried Rice, Fried Noodle) Bakso (Meatball Soup, it comes with noodle most of the time) Any kind of fritters. Tofu, Tempe or mixed veggies. and my favorite a set of Masakan Padang. This will blow your mind; the richness of spices.

Hi Frank ... There are plenty of interesting things in Indonesia, it’s so vast where it seems unlimited ... e.g. if you are ornithology, it would be an interesting challenge to find 43 species of Bird of Paradise in Papua ... Amazing flora & fauna and of course the people too with their colorful culture ...

About your question about what is our ethnicity, our current generation are mostly already mixed between several native ethnicity. Me for example is sundanese and minang kabau ethnicity. Lastly each ethnicity have their own language and not just dialect and each language is so different one another. And about usage of language, We indonesian still use our mother tongue when we speak with other who can understand it (mostly who come from same ethnicity) and in informal interaction. We use bahasa indonesia mostly when we are uncertain if the partner can soeak the traditional language or in formal matter that require everyone to understand the content. It is literally lingua franco.

8:25 Yeah, its actually connected before and during ice age. The region called Sunda Shelf. Funfact: There are new theory that early migration about "Out of sunda", thought expert highly rejected those due to accepted "Austronesia expansion theory". This new theory came up after new oldest megalithic site and oldest cave painting founded in Indonesia past years. Researcher still on-going to collect any ancient data there.
