Most of the humour has its context in South African history and culture, which makes it subtle but really funny. It makes me proud to be South African 😁

The King Price, the farmer said that there is problems between him and his wife, and the english dr in town said he must do something sexy to attract her, and him being an afrikaans speaking farmer, thought he must do something sexy to a tractor 😂

In the monkey ad, the guy is asking the barman “Do you know your monkey stole my savanna(the cider/beer) ” , which he responds “No, but if you hum it...I'll play it”, in a sense that as he was playing a guitar the guy who got at the bar wanted him to play a song “Your monkey stole my savanna”

hahhahahah.. the FORD ad : In old south african , white man was the boss and blacks the worker .. in new south africa, black man boss and white man worker so the white customer trust white company man more, where as black customer would trust black owned company more - LOL its hilarious if you understood our history, you'll see the humour in the ad...UBUNTU means : Humanity to other - in essence : I am what I am because of who we all are

I’m South African in the US,but I feel if you don’t understand the language the interpretation of the commercial is lost on you. 98% of the commercial is the dialect and that unique sense of humor. Just sayin😊

With the police officer, generally when they stop you and you try to "buy" your way out of trouble, you would ask to "buy the officer lunch or a cooldrink". So Nando's is showing a scenario that would never happen, where the office would buy YOU lunch, because the meal is so darn cheap.

The Savanna cider name is derived from the Savanna desert, hence the punchline "it's dry but you can drink it". Their ads are mainly a play on irony and witty jokes. "It's DRY, it's a dry cider - but you can drink it". Monkey steals my Savanna, "Hey, do you know your monkey stole my Savanna?", Bartender playing guitar thinking it is a song request instead of the guy notifying him what just happened: "No, but if you hum it, I'll play it" It is literally a play on double meanings. Hope this is clear

So the moral of the "1st for Women" ad is that South African women are responsible rather than us men thus it's an insurance company for women only🤣😂

The Nandos’s adds are really good and funny, but you have to be South African to understand the sarcasm (humour)

In south Africa there are traffic cops and actual cops for day to day crimes... The traffic ones only focus on the car n road related issues not to arrest or shoot

You have to be familiar with our products, lingo and culture to get most of the ads.

He was asking about his drink, and he responded as if it was song request the Savannah ad

The Hunters (MONKEY AD) : Hunters is an alcoholic cider .. so it' s dry - so it plays on people who has dry humour - the monkey stole the drink - the barman was playing music - the customer said " Do you know- your monkey stole my drink?" - he said it as making a statement ...but the barman thought is was a song request hence his reply was " no - but if you hum it, i'll play it " - you need to have a DRY sense of humour to get it ..................get it? So, the Savannah ad, I'm not going to go through the comments to see if someone already explained it. So, Savannah is a dry drink, and the come back from the bartender was a dry joke. There are quite a few savannah ads featuring Barry Hilton, SA comedian, all around the theme that Savannah is dry, but you can drink it.
