We can never thank these young men enough. Simply put, we enjoy our lives today, we say what we want, we di whatever we want to do, because of their sacrifices. Most important importantly, they all volunteered. Truly the the greatest generation.

I spent two tours of duty in Europe. I have visited this one and several others. The overwhelming silence, in the face of the ocean sound is deafening. Ten Thousand graves Ten Thousand names.... Ten Thousand home towns Ten Thousand futures that will never be told. Dirk Tassent, you did us proud. You did us right. From this old tired veteran, I thank you for this. *Salute*

Dad went in on the third wave at Normandy, I don't remember which beach, he was with the 91st Division. He was a math major in college and figured his chances at thirty seconds once the ramp fell. He survived from D-Day through to VE-Day. Until the day he passed, when asked about the war all he'd say was he was living on borrowed time ... from those that never came home. I now understand that statement. He passed back in 1980. That hymn should be played at every veteran's memorial. It's fitting for such an occasion.
