The person that commented here asked "what was the reason that prompted you to go to Vietnam" My cousin ( US Army) was Drafted n had to go. He came back a different man with many flashbacks of killing many Vietnamese ( alot were very young boys) I'm sure there were some soldiers that wanted to serve in that war. My cousin was captured by some Vietnamese but was lucky to break away( they were high on drugs) n run to the jungle area hiding for over 2 week period n finally located some of our soldiers n got home after being there for over 2 years.

Theodore Roosevelt fought in World War I as well. He came ashore on D-Day with the 4th infantry division and then LED them inland which is where he got the Medal of Honor. He's was scheduled to be promoted to Major General and given his own division to command. Sadly he died of a heart attack the night before he was supposed to assume command of his division. If I recall correctly he had seen his son earlier that day they had sat and had dinner and talked.

That year he died would have been the year he celebrated his 57th birthday, but he died 2 months early. Henry Fonda was born in 1905. He played TR, Jr. in the movie The Longest Day which first appeared in theaters in 1962. That year Mr. Fonda turned 57 years old. Amazing coincidence or not.

All allied units made great efforts to bury brothers next to each other. There are Commonwealth soldiers who died hundreds of miles apart buried next to each other. I was a powerful act of kindness during our darkest hours. Their names will live forever more. And yes, even in different wars.

I was there with my kids this last weekend. Respect to all these men.
