And even though MLK was a pacifist, *he was not moderate.* Pacifism itself is an innately radical stance. @@fifty50x8 think about what you're saying for two seconds dude. Sure, if everyone open carries then yeah, someone is slightly less likely to try and commit mass murder (but the people who would open fire in a street are likely prepared to die anyway). But what happens when someone does open fire? Your assumption relies on everyone being fucking Call of Duty action heroes who can stay calm in the face of active danger, identify the real target, and have perfect aim so they don't miss. But 99.9% of people would not be capable of all of that. So let's think about what happens: 1. We're on a street where lots of people are open carrying. 2. Someone opens fire - Oh no. 3. People panic. Someone decides to be a big brave boy and takes out his gun, he sees another person with their gun drawn. 4. Big brave boy opens fire, two shots hit the intended target, but one misses, hitting and killing a small child. The target was not the original shooter. 5. The man who was shot returns fire at the big brave boy, assuming him to be the original shoot, his shots aren't as accurate because he has already been shot, he misses and a mother of 2 is killed in front of her kids. 6. A third person decides that she wants to a good guy with a gun. She sees those two men shooting at each other. But the Big Brave boy fired first, so she assumed he's the original shooter. She takes aim and kills him with some shots to his chest. One of the bullets passes all the way through his chest, hitting another innocent person. 7. From there, it could escalate further, with confused and scared civilians opening fire on one another creating a massacarre, or it could calm down, the third lady assuming she killed the original shooter calling for calm. 8. The original shooter calmly pack up his weapon and exits the hotel room he was staying in at the end of the street, acting terrified. He is caught a week later, attempting to do the same thing in another city. People are not fucking action heroes. If everyone has a gun and is scared with adrenaline pumping, eventually some situation is going to spiral out of control. It may not happen every time, but it's easy to imagine a situation devolving into an accidental massacarre, costing far more lives than if people had just ran for safety.

Only two months into the school year. I wasn't in the room, but I was on campus. It should be something that you notice instantly, because it's not a statement for more rights, it's a literal weapon that can kill at distance. Seeing police holding guns is fine because you know this is inherent to their job, and for some people it makes them feel safe (because oooh islamic terrorist under the carpets), but random guys with guns would be the most stressful experience of my life, like at any point any one that goes mad in the street can spread bullets everywhere and easily kill tens of people before being stopped. How childish. You're either projecting or just generalizing. People own guns because it is an effective means of self-defense from deadly threats. I don't care how tough you are. If you are trying to close the distance with someone who has a knife, unless it is a last resort, you are an idiot. That being said, people who are weak or frail have every right to own a gun so they CAN defend themselves. There's nothing wrong with being a weak person. For notable examples, most women, disabled people and elderly people won't do well in a physical struggle against a 30-year-old man with twice their muscle mass and capacity for brutality. But if a 9mm hollow-point can penetrate 16 inches of ballistic gel, it can kill the toughest person on Earth with one vital shot. It's called an equalizer for a reason. A 110-pound woman would get rocked by a man who's 270-pounds, but with a gun she can drop that scumbag before he has a chance to beat, rape, kidnap and/or murder her. And no, the cops won't be there for you when you need them. ACAB.

@@PittsburghSonido do y'all just REALLY want the libs to start crowing about takin' yer guns away? because that's how you get liberals crowing to take yer guns away. if the point is to make people afraid of you, you're gonna f*ckin lose your privileges acting like a fool because you are too immature to own a firearm. if the point is to keep your family safe from tyranny, get a sensible weapon and use it properly. otherwise you're just a sociopath looking to make up for having a bad high school experience and you will be judged as such by society. freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from consequences. people can let you say what you like but they don't have to like you, help you, or pat your ass. you act that way with a weapon and you are reaping what you sow with that antisocial attitude.

Not much of a nuclear take. Pistol is understandable for personal defense. Rifle is understandable for home / building / large vehicle defense, or hunting. Zero reason to carry a rifle around really... Personally I wouldn't give a shit, but socially it's rightfully considered odd. Kinda like buttering your toast with a butcher knife. Harmful? No. Can be done? Yeah. Is it extra to the point it's weird? Yeah.

I'm 100% pro-gun. I partially agree. However, concealed carry is the most important means of carry. While I support open carry, I advise against it since any thhreat will take note of you before you take note of them.
