I'm just another anonymous internet poster, but with that said I am a fan of Lisa Su. I talk to women that say they have no role models and they make it sound like they've given up in that way. I've mentioned Lisa Su to a few of them, and I was so glad to get an "oh" instead of some depressed refutation of that women can matter. It makes me glad to know that all they have to do is look a little bit harder and they'll find some great people that they can really look up to, and I hope at some point it makes them glad too.

It will be interesting to see the non-heavy-multitasking gaming benchmarks at 1080/1440P, and, with a 1080GTX, and, against a handful of popular games, not one or two that scale well with more cores. (The 7700k vs whatever in the heavy multitask benchmarks likely chose a heavy workload that would allow the 8 cores to shine; understandable, but, it is still a form of cherry picking.)

Sceptics will say that AMD for all the hype only achieved parity with Intel. However I still think that it is a commendable achievement if you consider how big the performance gap was over the last decade. They have produced a architecture which performs just as well as their competitor but it is crucially more efficient and comes in at a more appealing price point. AMD accomplished their goals and brought to the market a alternative option for high performance computing kudos to them.

You don't need to buy the most expensive GPU because the rendering technology evolves so fast,,,every 18-24 months new games come out with new graphic instruction/rendering and requires GPU to best draw. Simply said software & hardware of GPU updates every 18-24 months. The best video card of 2 years ago might not be best for the new release games so you need to update the new GPU. I spent $350 for R9 390, it's about 15-16 months since I upgraded so I guess I will have to update another GPU Vega when it comes out to play new game. someone might have more money to waste to they can spend $700 for GTX 1080 (at release :) ) and 2 year later might need to update hardware :) LOL

Now they need to go after Nvidia, they did ok this round but rtx 4K, amd amd 7k should see major performance and price reduction for consumers I can only hope.

I took it more as a reference to designing a brand new architecture from the ground up. It’s pretty rare for that to happen, usually about once in a decade and then they just iterate on the design like Intel’s Core series. +50% percent performance sounds impressive by itself but when you put it in context and say that Zen 1 was 50% better than a steaming pile of dogshit.... well that’s not saying too much now is it? 😂

With Intel's new Tick Tock Tock BS, who knows if the 8th gen 14nm Coffee Lake will be any good... I'm just excited to see Intel and AMD go at it again. Because WE, the consumers, are the winners here. AMD tends to use their core architecture for many generations. Case in point: Bulldozer (which was just terrible) was the old architecture which went through other iterations such as Piledriver, Steamroller, and Excavator They all shared the same base architecture as Piledriver. Ryzen is essentially the successor to Piledriver. which will see additional optimizations (IPC increase) and die-shrinks.

Not at all. AMD has always had the lower-end CPUs, worst performance, and cheaper parts. Not to mention you can't even say this CPU will perform well enough against top-end Intel CPU because of the benchmarks from AMD are clearly bias. Yes, this will be a good CPU for someone on a budget either way but by no means has it killed Intel (yet). I personally won't touch AMD as I know an Intel CPU is better made, lasts longer and has more advancements - but that's just me. I'll still be impressed if they really can match a top-end Intel but I highly doubt it for the price.

You clearly have no idea how big and powerful Intel is. AMD lives because Intel must let AMD exist or face anti-trust lawsuits and a breakup. AMD is a fly that Intel can't swat due to SEC. Intel's R&D budget is 3X AMD's REVENUE. Let that sink in for a minute...

it doesn't matter dude, you don't need that budget to make great stuff, you need ideas, and smart dedicated people, its why some games in the past with budgets of 10 million might be better than some current aaa games with 100 million , throwing money at something has a hard cap of being effective, at some point it doesn't matter anymore. Intel could actually get fucked tho, because in business the bigger you are the harder you fall ,intel must maintain its revenue and keep growing or it might fall hard, its just too big to take a hit like i think its going to take from loss of sales. it has debt and investors to pay tons and tons of employees and the maintenance costs of the whole of intel are probably huge, what i'm saying is that a 5 % drop in sales this year for intel might mean thousands of lay offs , i personally think tens of thousands in light of recent events at intel.

Tim Cook Your customers are 90% casuals. AMD should remind you of ANDROID and how widely their OS has made it to the top notch LGs and Samsungs. You might get caught with you pants down just like intel did. (ik this is a fake Tim acc heh)

@@DXHatakeKakashi exactly, everyone's happy to pay 300$ for 6cores like they did back in 2018 for the 8700k. They justify it with increased performance but if that was true, these CPUs would have costed 10million dollars each. So yeah, pure AMD fanboyism as we didn't hold AMD to same standard as we did with Intel.

@@DXHatakeKakashi unfortunately only 2 companies are licensed to make x86 CPUs and Via aren't interested in making x86 chips cause it's just a crappy old architecture. Future is ARM but none of them except Apple are making desktop class ARM CPUs. And raspberry pi is just a geeky project at best. The arm CPU in it is anemic.
