I walked into an AMC dealership in 1985. Priced a Alliance convertible. Shocked by two things. A very knowledgeable sales woman waited on me, rare then and the price, 12,500. Thought that was way too high, walked out and bought a Dodge 600

I had an Alliance sedan...no convertible :(...it had a nice soft ride, great tilting driver seat, a nice option, quite ride, it was under powered, but I was looking for economy that I could afford. I thought the clamshell opening hood was 'cool'...hey I was 19yo! It never broke down, a rare thing for a french car!! Only had to put on tires, change oil, regular maintenance. It was my third 'new car'. But it was a year old, the price drop was in 1 year was huge!! My family had several AMC Concords, man those things were made of STEEL! They just ran and ran and ran. Never broke down, no problems, VERY comfortable, easy to work on for maintenance, wanted to get an AMC Spirit or the Eagle two door, but AMC went out of business, even Renault couldnt stop it. By the time I moved on to a NEW car, they were gone:(

Aw heck, my Mom had a two-tone 18i, it was actually a very good car; interior parts rattled a bit, but it never broke down.
