    Great as usual Marcel. I think the Rode NTSF1 always sounds great. I loved the part with the airplane (or was it a helicopter ?) went over. Great mic, but a shame it's so expensive. Why do I always choose hobbies that require a ton of money? Ha ha. Oh well, enjoyed that as always. No problem with the format at all. It's nice to see a quick "out and about" video, and probably much easier and quicker for Libby to film and edit. Take care.

    Great video as always! You guys make a great team! Pardon the gear question: were you using the K-tek mixpro with the Zoom F6? Im looking for a bag for the F6 and the lack of extra space/pockets for Rx/timecode box in the K-Tek KSF6 bag is disappointing but I do love the build of Ktek bag over the Orca F6 bag. The ORca does provide a little extra space for receivers timecode etc. Have you used the K-Tek Mixpro with the Zoom F6?

    I'm new here but I'm totally hooked! This video in particular was great both for the audio *and* for the technique tips. Props to the video operator as well; it's great supporting material! Humour! Obviously, the Zoom F6 is to be preferred but I'm wondering for someone like me on a fixed income budget whether a combination of a Tascam 70D with 4 of the FetHead phantom pre-amps might not serve? I realize there is no linked gain feature and the post-processing is a bit of a chore but perhaps careful manual gain staging is viable. (Of course the folks at Tascam say it works a treat!) The 70D has a nice sound in the middle but less than great pre-amps particularly for this kind of recording as you probably know. In any event, thanks for your work and inspiration.

  • @FreeToUseSounds

    @FreeToUseSounds

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Edward! Thank you so much for watching Do you have the 70D already? Because 4 FetHeads are almost $400 alone. The 70D is somewhere between $250 and $300. If you don’t have the 70D yet I wouldn’t but it all together and rather go directly with an F6.

  • @edwardnixon1782

    @edwardnixon1782

    Жыл бұрын

    @@FreeToUseSounds Thanks for this. Yes, I have the 70D but am resisting this approach, mainly because 32-bit audio seems like a requirement for recording that covers such a potentially wide dynamic range. It's probably better to sell the Tascam and put the proceeds into the budget for the "real deal." The question regarding FetHeads was simmering and bubbled over when I saw you using them with the F6. I'm assuming that is not completely necessary given the preamps on the Zoom but I suppose you can never have enough (flat) gain! Thanks again.

  • @FreeToUseSounds

    @FreeToUseSounds

    Жыл бұрын

    @@edwardnixon1782 Oh yes I think I would do the same. Sell it and get the F6 or even the MixPre 6ii which is really nice. You also assume that right. Its not necessary but I always like to try things out. Having one for the hydrophones or for my contact microphones is really great. This week we’re at the Bamboo Forest in Kyoto and let’s if they make a difference with the Schoeps and SD :)

    Love the videos. Managed to get a Geofón recently and love it! Have you much experience with dampening cable noise for your microphones? Hello again. I love the Road, and the Sennheiser Ambio, but I think for now the Zoom H3VR is about my budget. is there any way you could do a direct comparison with the H3VR and the other 2, maybe plugged into the F6 or Mixpre. I am aware that it will not be anywhere as good, but I looked on youtube, and the H3 doesn't seem to pick up anywhere as well with surrounding ambience, any views on this? Also I have no sight, so using the F6 and MixPre may not be easy at all. I'm currently using the H2N and I also got the H1N some time ago and started practising with that along with the Sennheiser Ambio Smart headset, which is the easyest for me to use because the iPhone has voice Over Text To Speach built in. It does however have terrible preamps and is not actually a good recorder at all... Thank you so much for all of your videos. PS: I just bought the entire all in one bundle, so thank you!

    F3 and NTSF1 are great but can't ever be used together. The F3 only has 2 XLR inputs and the NSTF1 uses 4 - one XLR connecter per capsule. You can see in this video where marcel has 4 FetHeads plugged in to his F6. The NTSF1 has what looks like one single cable but at the recorder end it splits into 4 XLR plugs.
