It reminds me of the Monty Python Psychiatrist/Milkman sketch. A man stops the psychiatrist because his regular psychiatrist is on vacation or something and asks him to diagnose a problem with him and his wife, and he does, causing a viewer to write in and complain saying they’re tired of psychiatrists on tv being portrayed as making “pat diagnoses without first obtaining the patient’s full medical history”, then it cuts back to the psychiatrist, who qualifies his previous statement saying “Mind you, that’s just a pat diagnosis made without first obtaining your full medical history.”

So the thing with cross examinations is that the lawyers are allowed to conduct their examinations as they see fit. In theory, this ensures that no outside force can dictate what you ask or how you go about questioning. The judge is only allowed to interfere in the event that the opposing lawyer calls an objection or the matter of courtroom conduct is brought up. However the lawyer is permitted to be brazen to this degree, albeit it’s never advisable if they want to keep getting hired.

She fired the third team when they signed an agreement with Depp's lawyers and Disney's about what would be given to all parties for discovery because they didn't get everything she wanted. As a Psychologist, this attorney was in WAY over her head when she tried to make sense of the 'raw data' to the point of being embarrassing! This Psychologist did an amazing job of not being drawn into the seething irritation that was so obvious from the attorney 👏 and stayed on task with an excellent description of Borderline and Histrionic PD's, so the general public could understand the full and broad picture. As one who has had to be on the witness stand, it is not something enjoyable; but she very nicely torn the defence apart--Bravo!! *One thing the attorney brought up to TRY and make it appear as though this Psychologist wasn't qualified was ask her if she was "Board Certified". At this point the attorney was grasping for anything, and again, showed her lack of understanding. Psychologists, as many professions need to be licensed. We take a National Examination and then, after Residency (following an APA certified internship and any fellowships), we have to sit for a Jurisprudence Exam (Ethics and the Mental Health Laws) to assure we know the State Mental Health rules and regulations for the State where we are applying for licensure. A still relatively new addition to the various certifications we can apply for is to be board certified. That option did not exist when I began my practice, although it is now basically considered an additional certificate you can get to prove you are appropriately trained and meet standards. That was one clarification I would have liked to see come out in the testimony, so the jury and public aren't under a misperception of our qualifications! But again, Bravo for the fantastic job on the stand and to Johnny Depp, I sincerely sympathize for your having to live in that type of toxic situation for so long 😢

I did clearly state behavioral observations that were seen by anyone watching this trial, and I did provide appropriate information regarding our licensing and credentials, as that is often misunderstood. I view that clarity important so that the public is not mislead. I have already seen incorrect information regarding our licensing and credentialing that is being floated around chats regarding yesterday's testimony. And I do introduce myself as a Psychologist to provide the basis for my comments, but I have been mislead by blogs where people will discuss issues as though they are in the mental health professional, only to find out it's someone who has some basic information, from which they form an opinion, and then broadly generalize their opinion as fact--this could potentially result in damage to others. Therefore it is important to be upfront and honest! Just look at how many individuals are now online claiming to be an 'expert' at "body language," but do not have proof--it's often fairly easy to identify who really does have the knowledge based on their discussion. Finally, there are Psychologists, therapists, and even attorneys in this case, who have their own Web channels, as this is a topic of interest! Basically, it is the public's decision as to whether they believe the individual who runs the site, because unless we see their diplomas and licenses on the wall, no one knows if they are licensed.

LOL to which she responded "I didn't go to dinner with him, I went to an interview with his legal team and dinner was served." but she could also see through the BS question of "did you know him before?" to which most people would have said yes, because of the movies, but she could see right through it and said "I didn't know him before. I liked his movies" Which is a great distinction and shows the very odd, misleading question from Heard's attorneys. Most people would have seen at least one of his movies before the trial because he is indeed a very famous actor unlike Heard, I've only seen her in aquaman even if I was aware of her existance before, but I don't recall watching any other movie with her.

Exactly. Truly disappointing. She could have asked any clinical psychologist about the weakness of the witness and she would have been told it's in the statistics. No test can give a 100% sure result. It's not possible. So there's a minimum of doubt about the result allowed. Being a scientist the witness would have surely admitted that she can't be 100% sure her diagnosis is correct. I personally believe the results in this case were correct, because they are consistent with the behaviour Miss Heard displays generally in public. But I am willing to keep in mind the possibility of a very unlikely but possible false result. Instead of attacking the witnesses credibility with this stupid attempt of making her seem biased, time would have been better used by making the witness agree that from a scientific point of view every diagnosis can potentially be wrong and that we can't exclude that in this case it's wrong. No need to attack the witness personally.

This attorney has a habit of throwing in her own little personal attacks, which any judge should be striking down. Ive witnessed judges giving warnings to attorneys like her, because they take a personal disliking of witnesses. Unable to maintain a professional demeanor. They become snarky, dismissive, at times insulting toward a witness. This attorney should have already been warned a few times and probably even personally reprimanded by this judge for orating her personal thoughts such as "oh, so now you're an expert on, blah blah" That comment should be, not striken from the record, but a note added that it was unprofessional and the jury ordered to disregard it. Typically it would be striken from the record, but that erases the conduct of a bad attorney, which is why the record should note that it was unprofessional and the judge warned the attorney. These could be useful documents if anyone ever had a complaint against said attorney with the state bar association.

There weren't any objections. Johnny's lawyers probably saw how bad Heard's attorney was alienating the jury and didn't want to interrupt that. Also, the psychologist was very effective in countering Heard's lawyer. There's an old lawyer axiom - when you're ahead shut up. So, no objections and therefore nothing for the judge to decide. Just let Heard's lawyer get carved up by the psychologist and let Heard's case get buried. Just wait until the jury hears that the make up compact this idiot lawyer made such a big deal about in her opening statement wasn't even on the market until a year and a half after they were divorced.

Just to be clear on the first part, in these fields from what I understand you don't say "I diagnose you with X mental disorder" because mental health is not so black and white, the doctor says that Heard displays "symptoms" of X mental disorder. This is why mental health is a difficult field because there are a lot of factors involved and they don't necessarily always align with the disorder entirely.

i think whats probably happened is that Amber couldn't find any good attorneys that would take her case. There was probably 1 or 2 who said yes initially but after working for her and being treated like shit, they ran for the hills. Her legal team is a smorgasbord of "bottom of the barrel" lawyers. She had to take anything she could get. Any lawyer with an ounce of pride and morality would have declined the case and contrary to what most ppl think, lawyers don't like representing vile ppl if they can help it. especially one this high profile and with one of the worlds most beloved men. They're a train wreck because they're all she could scrape off the bottom. I've noticed that usually the lawyers are a good representation of who the client truly is. A badgering, hostile, abusive know it all will usually pick a lawyer who is a badgering, hostile, abusive know it all.. if a client is articulate, confident, respectful, mature with high morals the client will be articulate, confident, respectful, mature and have high morals... its like we pick lawyers who are the most like us because we all, to some extent, think we know better than everyone else. We think our tactics will work better so we pick ppl who will use the same tactics we do. If you're ok with lying, cheating and stealing to win, you're going to hire a lawyer who will lie, cheat and steal to win. I'd love to ask the Dr. on the stand why that is, im sure she has an extremely interesting explanation as to why that is psychologically... I guess its the whole birds of a feather flock together and the birds in question this time are vultures 😅🤭
