Thank you so much for this video. I have an 03 883 Sporty I'm trying to bring back from the dead. I was reluctant to buy this carb on Amazon ($42 seriously!?) but I feel a little better about it now. Just gotta get a new fuel line as I don't really trust that pink tubing and the ID of my stock line is a little wide. Also, helpful hint for anyone looking at this Chinese carb as a viable option: on my 03 Sporty I had to tap the air filter plate mounting holes (you know what I mean, the three hex screws) to 1/4 20 to accept my stock screws. Peace, and thanks again.

Hey thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. This is why I like people taking the time to comment. Not only do you get another POV of how this carburetor works. But you also get a tech tip on what you might have to do to make it fit different models. I agree I was pretty skeptical about the $42 Chinese carburetor and how it was going to perform myself . But I've been pretty impressed . One of my other viewers commented MPG had gone down with this carburetor . I can only attribute that to bigger Jets maybe using more fuel. If you care to, please keep us posted on what you think of the performance after you've used it for a while. thanks for checking out the channel please share with your friends. Loosen the cables before removing the carb, they’ll come off without removing the guide housing and will go on easy. Then readjust the cables once carb installed.

I bought a new carb off Amazon for one of my dirt bikes and found out it was a knock off Chinese replica but I put it on anyway and didn’t have to reject it or even adjust the idle and it’s been on and running for about 6 years, can’t believe it

I installed one based off of another KZread video. Bike runs great but the slide is too loose and rattles in the carb on acceleration and decel. Not going to risk that coming apart so I’m either using the original slide or back to the original carb

Yeah I get it that would certainly cause me alarm also. Sounds like you're knowledgeable, and know you're talkin about. All I can say is, Just make sure that's where the rattles coming from. Just saying I didn't want anything else coming loose on you and causing a problem. If you're sure that's where it's coming from by all means go to the Harley slide, but if you've got the whole carburetor and then there's nothing wrong with it I would just clean that and swap them back out. And see if you can't find an original slide eBay or somewhere for that one to see if it fixes it. I think that's probably the difference in the price of a new Harley carburetor , and the Chinese knockoff. sounds like quality control might not be as good ,tolerances might not be as tight as on an original Harley carb. Thanks for commenting, and making people aware of that. That's a great tip on these carburetors that people might not be aware of. I have seen some people doing videos on motorcycle and car carburetors that are Chinese knockoffs that they have had some problems with. I guess it's kind of hit and miss." So buyer beware". Thanks ,Ride safe and live life behind bars.

What about the red hose on the bottom where do I connect it

  • @westcornerscustomcycles

Hey thanks for checking out the Channel and watching the video. You don't have to worry about connecting that hose anywhere it is an overflow hose. If for some reason the float sticks on your carburetor and gas floods your carburetor it will run out that hose and onto the ground, I hope that helps you out. So just route that hose somewhere where if gas comes out of it it will go on the ground I think you're really going to like that carburetor, seems to work very well on my 89 Sportster. I invite you to please, check out the rest of the channel and share it with your friends. Please consider subscribing you'll get notified whenever I put out a new video. Okay as always ride safe and live life Behind Bars.

Hey man thanks for checking out the channel. You know that's something I never took into consideration. I never really kept much track of my miles per gallon , but it makes sense to me now that I think about it. These carburetors are set up different than the ones from the 80s were, because of the EPA regulations. the Jets are bigger in these so in theory would use more gas. I do have to say though, I am pretty impressed with the way it runs. I've been running it for several hundred miles now haven't had any problems. And I'm pretty happy with the response when I hit the throttle. If you get a chance please check out the rest of the channel, if you see something cool please share it with your friends. Ride safe and live life Behind Bars, keep me posted I would like to know what you think about the carburetor after you use it for a while.
