    How's the PVC going to hold up to the heat of the engine?

  • @westcornerscustomcycles
    @westcornerscustomcycles22 күн бұрын

    I've ridden it a few times the PVC holds up okay the air coming in through the air cleaner through the Venture in the carburetor is moving about 200 miles an hour so that keeps it cool enough to not melt plus I forgot that hot it would melt the rubber boots that the manifold mounts into that are attached to the cylinder so it stays cool enough I just have to get the carburetor adjusted right it's running a little rich

    I apologizing for being so long getting back to you yes should work fine you just need to use the right size carburetor I would recommend using a carburetor for a 500 cc motorcycle like a carburetor off a 500cc motocross bike single carb setup a car from a bike from a 400 to a 6650 you should be able to use might have to dial into air fuel mixture a little but other than that should work fine

I was out for a ride on my Yamaha Virago 1100 1985 this afternoon 200 so I pulled into a parking lot and turned it back down to about 1100 and it's stayed right there it's still fine I must not have had it all the way warmed up when I adjusted it the first time. Ah...Nice bloody bikes hahaha...I've literally just finished cleaning the carbs & putting them...bloody things pain haha they way absolutely shit I.. inside but the seal & everything was OK...I did a oil change that's a pain to taking everything off to get at the oil cover..only to find out that the 3rd bolt at the bottom someone before me who had the bike had broken it on the bottom bolt hole..& they stuck loads of black sealer on it ...I've tried to fix it with a plumber weld & stuff ..but it's no good..still leaks slightly or course I can't tighten it up enough or it will snap..been trying to find a new or used oil cover on line but there's a place over in the states there but I live in jersey 🇯🇪 Channel Islands uk..I've looked closely here in UK Europe but the want absurd prices for that little Cover..like £150 ....no way ..anyway I've just bought new battery in I've completely changed this bike from what it used to look like..its a bit of fun mate the weather here has been horrible not bike weather rain wind .it's sopost to be summer ☀️ Anyway I've ordered that oil cover rubber oring & some heatproof sealer I will try and fix it again if it don't hold ..they I try & order something from over there in the states if they do shipping to here..I saw a oil cover for the bike the other day with a pressure gauge built into it Anything my friend yes I watched your videos it's good stuff👍😉☕️

    You aint kidding about finding a decent tank for a Rago. It's like taking one or two good swings at a Rago tank with a 2x4 was a fad or something.

  • @MotorJunky4Life
    @MotorJunky4LifeАй бұрын

    I actually put the exact same tank on my 1100 virago project bike a few months ago after seeing your pvc intake video (works great by the way). Though when I mounted my tank, I cut the bolt mount tab off of my rotten virago tank and welded it on the new Honda tank rather than bending and fighting the new tank. Also on the front tabs I didn’t like the look of how far they stuck out. So I ended up trimming them back and drilling new holes in the shorter tabs to mount them. Which gave me extra room to drill a hole to run the wiring harness through the old airbox for a cleaner look. Great video and awesome to see how someone else did the same thing.

    I have a 03 Dyna problems with the carburetor can't get it to idle right just bought one from Amazon to see if it works out. I was wondering if your bike ran better with the Amazon carb?

  • @westcornerscustomcycles
    @westcornerscustomcycles2 ай бұрын

    Hey thanks for checking out the channel and watching the video. I don't know that the Amazon carburetor ran any different or better than the Harley carburetor. it was just that the float was sticking and the gas was overflowing out of it. it was still running fine. I do still have the Amazon carburetor on my Harley and it runs great, and the Harley carburetor just wound up on a Yamaha Virago 1100. I made a manifold for single carburetor for the Yamaha. I plan on Switching them around so the Harley carburetor is back on the Harley. Both carbs work great. Is the carburetor on the 03 a cv carburetor? Maybe it just needs a good cleaning. Thanks again for checking out the channel. ride safe, and live life Behind Bars.

    It doesn't look like the intake will meter the mix to each carb properly. Most of the aluminum 2 to 1's have a separator inside to help divvy up the mix. Have you come across any mix issues?

  • @westcornerscustomcycles
    @westcornerscustomcycles2 ай бұрын

    Hey thank you for checking out the channel and watching the video. I haven't had any issues with the running. if you watch the video where I start the bike and run it. It runs just fine, only one cylinder is going to suck the gas and air mixture at a time. The manifold doesn't meter the gas mixture. Whatever cylinder is on the intake stroke will suck whenever gas and air mixture is coming through the manifold. The other cylinder will be on the exhaust stroke. So one will not take from the other I haven't had any issues with the way it runs. I haven't taken it out running it up down the road yet. I plan on having a video by the end of the week with me riding it up and down the road. I'm getting it just about finished you will have to check it out to see how it runs. Thank you again for checking out the channel, hope you like what you see. ride safe live life Behind Bars.

    @@westcornerscustomcycles thank you for the response I will definitely consider following your design. It will be neat to see the running and driving. My 82 virago 750 is in dire need of a carb doctor I just can't seem to get it right. I've removed the carbs 8 times to try and get the float level and mix and sync correct. At this point I'm ready for a new solution as it still fails to stay running or run well. Just need a decent replacement for the hitachis. Life of a tinkerer tis but a humbling one.
