Back in 2017 when BR2049 came out, I was a newly poor college dropout. I real really wanted to see this film like nothing else, but wasn't able to. I heard from those who did that it was a unique experience, specially with the theatres empty in every showing. God, I regret no being able to see it in cinema, but I damn will gi watch Dune when it hits.

@@roberthipolito1351 that sucks you missed it. the desire to see it in theatres counts for something. I saw it 4 times in theaters with it being anything from packed to empty. when i saw it in true imax it was packed.

I was speechless after leaving the theater. Completely mindblown. Since walking out of the theater I've been searching for a better cinematic experience. I don't think I ever will but I will still search for it. This movie will forever be in my heart.
Let's be honest, this vid could easily be over 2 hours.

@@88feji I'd disagree-it's 100% one of the most beautiful films I've seen. Maybe there's not as much simple three-demensionality as, say, Oppenheimer or Dune, but it's no less gorgeous. IMO it's better-looking than the original Blade Runner.

Roger Deakins and Denis Villeneuve couldn’t deliver less than excellence and they truly did. Such talented people for one of the best looking movie of all time.
Can we just give a round of applause to Roger Deakins? That man knocked it out of the goddamn park, again.
Absolutely stunning work from the great Roger Deakins, this movie was criminally underrated at one point. I made a video for it too.
For watching this film i travelled 700kms. Never done that before even after this. Going with high expectation returned with more than satisfaction.
This movie was the reason why I wanted to go into a career in filmmaking. It's an understatement to say that the cinematography in it is gorgeous. I'm quite certain it has the most incredible shots and special effects I've seen in any movie so far.
One of the most beautiful and visually pleasing movies ever created.
Roger did a great job with this movie, so good he won an Oscar for it. Denis and the visual effects artists, production designers and sound guys done a good job also. One of the best movies of 2017.

I want to do film because of Both Bladerunner movies. How can people create such beautiful pictures that move yet stay in your mind’s eye forever? This film deserves more credit than it has in the three years of its release
denis villeneuve is truly one of the best director’s of our time, and i look forward to see what he has ahead of him!! i’d love to see him work with studios like a24 and i hope that dune and 2049 are just the beginning of increasingly high-profile, high budget movies he gets to direct.

Out all of Deakins' filmography, I'd say this along with "The Assassination if Jesse James" are his most beautiful. At least for me. I'm no photagrapher or filmmaker, but when I try taking a photo I always think based on his style.
Amazing shots of Blade Runner 2049? Should be 2 hrs 44 mins long. Astonishing work :)

this movie is nothing short of amazing, some of the most breath-taking shots in film history
You have matched the minimalist visuals of this achingly tragic film with a music that expresses such an atmospheric spaciousness and emotion. Breathtaking.
One of the best movies of the last 10 years!
And THIS is why Denis Villeneuve is my favorite director.
If this film had not won the oscar for cinematography there would have been beautifully shot riots all around the world.

Very good job! 🙂

I don’t mean to take anything away from this film, but I feel the cinematography is ever so slightly overrated. When I first saw it in IMAX, I was indeed blown away as was most everyone else. But as time has passed, I’m not sure I feel the exact same way about it. Solely because I feel like everyone praises it as one of the best shot films ever.

The scenes are stunning, but the major problem is that nothing happens in artsy scenes. Yet that is what the producers chose to display in their advertisements. Also, the intended audience was for the older person. Women may "like" Gosling, but adult men don't give a crap about him. I can tell. The story was actually really good. But that too has been tarnished by old man Harrison Ford who completely lost his edge, and some other nonsensical stuff.

2049 looks grand but the visuals are emotionally pale and hollow .... kind of lazy even, like how can the Las Vegas streets toward the Casino be so empty, where's all the lamp posts, worn out big advertisment displays, loose hanging wires, peeling walls etc etc ? How can the casino look so neat and well maintained with even electricity running when its supposed to be turn off already as the whole city is abandoned....
@angel_machariel

@@88feji I agree. The first Blade Runner was only in a single city and that was developed well. In 2049 they wanted to create a bigger world, but had no time and budget to finalize it.
Personally, I think the cinematography in this film is overrated. I love both Blade Runner films (they both deserve their place in the pantheon of great films) and Roger Deakins. But, I feel he has definitely done better (e.g., Skyfall, The Shawshank Redemption, How to Train Your Dragon trilogy).
