Outstanding craftmanship for both the yacht and the longboat. Who would have believed that in this day and age that such crafts were still thriving? This is the best construction video I have ever seen on KZread. Thank you for an awesome video, I would have watched it no matter how long it was.
This is simply awesome, talk about craftsmen, this is truly man at its best. Hard work, and the results are perfection. What a build.
This would have been better with real workshop sounds and without the KZread Philarmonic in the background.
This is absolutely mesmerising to watch, especially the longship! That has to be one of the most beautiful crafted shapes ever invented by man. Thank you for this wonderful insight into human ingenuity and mastery of the shipbuilders art. The men who build these are truly special, and should be honoured and revered.

Masters who gifted by G-d of any skill usually don't expect another award than opportunity to make their lovely art. Even the modern shipbuilding is an art because one is never absolutely the same than another ship, but the truth is the opportunity to make it is the real award and makes happy any one who is attached by any case to that kind of human activity.

Watching the Viking ship being built reminded me of two things; a book from about 20 years ago called "A Viking Voyage," where the author and a group of men built a replica Viking trading vessel, and sailed it from Greenland to Canada, and the story of the Minnesota farmer back in the 1970's who built a Viking longship in his potato barn. He died before he could finish it, but his children finished the project, and sailed the boat accross the Atlantic.

The Vikings had a colony on Greenland from around 900 AD to 1350 AD. The climate was warmer and Greenland really was green. The subsequent "Little Ice Age" from 1300 AD to 1850 AD put Greenland back to an ice desert. Who knows; one day, Greenland might might become green again.
Fantastico parabéns!!! Brasil.
The artistry involved, the luxuriousness of the build and the impeccable feel on the water which only wooden hulls will give! It took me a few minutes to realise that the second hull was clinker built; that is an amazing thing!
Wow, I have built a few things, but these artist's do their magic as a team sport.
Love the use of the wooden clamps, so original, pity I couldn't see the finished long ship afloat

Hope to see the last. part of such a fantastic workmanship masterpiece
Really amazing to see these clever wood masters working. It is the synthesis of the best man's abilities in the construction of masterpieces. Absolutely a great good work. WOWthe longship!!
I was impressed by the triple planked yacht, but the longship!!!! I've never gotten to see a?clinker built? go together. Very very cool!
That first sloop sent me over! Love to crew her. Classic!!! Great workmanship all!
Great! Everytime I see something like that I hope that in the near future it will not be lost.
Thanks for this video. The sailing hull is almost a dead ringer for a sailing model I helped an 8th grader build in my school shop using most of the same methods. I sent him a link to this video which delighted him. His hull is just a stripper with no additional layers and he needs to figure out how to finish it. This video will inspire him. I saw the Draken in Boothbay Harbor, Maine a few years ago. It is very impressive in person.
Fascinant!
This video SHOULD have been an hour long creation of the second ship. From beginning to completion.

Parabens! Brasil
Awesome craftsmanship and workmanship. The sailboat is a beautiful design.
There’s no limit of human beings creativity! I admire these master craftsman ingenuity. These are the real artists that can bring to life a magnificent creation from wood.
I have built a strip cedar canoe and that was a fun project but I can not imagine building something like the boats in the video! I can't imagine the cost of a beautiful piece of work like that!
A great video guys, and impressive skill involved. And, yes, this video should have been much much longer. Well done.

Hey the wooden ship they show is Not in the video!!! Excuse me, oh that's just click bait!!!!
I love watching craftsmen creating beautiful things.
Totally insane on the craftsmanship these guys have.
Wooow amazing.. Sgt luar biasa..
It is amazing that the Vikings travelled from Scandinavia to Iceland, Greenland and even to Nova Scotia in open vessels like that second one you constructed. I was once on a ferry in Western Scotland and we passed a Viking style vessel going from Scandinavia to Dublin.

Loved the launch and sail!!
What lovely Craftsmen at work.
I've seen the Draken Harald Hårfagre in person at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut, it is massive and very impressive. Didn't realize there was any of the build on youtube, so great to see how they put it together.
Quel Travail, Bravo !!!
Beautiful craftsmanship!
Being a Master Stone Carver myself I can truly appreciate the skill and workmanship involved in being a Master Shipwright and that the passion for our trades will never bring us that highly deserved financial reward we are all worthy of.

Well, wouldn’t that be the coolest job in the world, one of them anyway. Great video 👍
Kalau lihat ini Terpikir bapak saya Pembuat kapal kayu Sangat kereatif.... Sukses selalu..👍👍
Its amazing...so a lot of work to finish a luxury wooden ship..Tk ad
the skill is so amazing
My brother built a small wooden cabin cruiser in his garden many years ago, and we used to laugh at the number of years 'the project' took to finish it - about 15 if I remember rightly. By the time of the completion his whole life had changed, he was working for a company that sent him abroad, and in the end that famous boat only had a couple of years use on the Norfolk Broads in UK before he was forced to sell it ! Sometimes it's the 'doing' of the task that is the joy ! This video shows superb craftsmanship & makes you realize just how talented they are ! Thank you - I learnt a lot & really enjoyed this video !
All that hard work and passion to build those boats... they're awesome !!
the more i watch this I have deep respect foir the 15, 16 ,17 century shipbuilders , no epoxy , no electric tools , just skill

Wow!! A super huge thank you! It's not often that you see such craftsmanship! Though it happened during a hard time in this country! Elsewhere in the world there was a beautiful ship being born!!! Thanks again for showing us this! I'd like to see how it ended! To be launched!
I'm a Norwegian American and have been a custom home builder for 30 years, I've always wanted to build a wooden boat of any kind, this would be a dream job.

True craftsmen…works of art.
Beautiful work
Utterly amazing.
The first ship is made of glue. With wood added. The second is what we think a wooden vikingship looked like. Made with modern tools. But both look fine and are shown in this nice video. Worth watching!

@@philrobson7976 Tools they had in those days to build the most advanced ship for those days, yes, you are right about that. Compare it with this: about 200 years people demonstrate the building of a todays house using a 3D printer. But again, the video is great, including the amount of work that is required to build such a large ship!

This video, in combination with this heaven instruments......it brings soooo lucky tears in my eyes and a great feeling in my heart!!!!
It should be unlawful to cover such beautiful wooden structures with anything other than spar varnish. Imagine how beautiful it would be.
