The Ming Dynasty Chinese Treasure ships had a max length of 80 feet, not 400 feet, and weren't ocean-going. They had to go along shores and if the wind picked up, had to go in safe harbors. They were incredibly primitive for their time.

I loved living on a houseboat in California on the Sacramento river, and the people who "boat" are incredibly friendly and kind. I have wanted to live on a boat on the Gulf of Mexico but the hurricanes are sure to hit every year, so it's better not to, even when a hurricane is hitting Louisiana we get very high tides that cause a lot of damage.

I love the viking ships as well. Simply because they were absolutely beautiful, amazing vessels that were far more technologically superior to anything else of their contemporaries. Not to mention the seamanship/navigating abilities of their captain/crews.

That is actually the Spanish monarchy's cross. The Templar cross has long straight sided arms, the whole length and width of the sail.

Order of Christ Templars of Portugal to be exact , they were a very big part in Portugal's glorious & very prosperous golden years of exploration & discovery for hundreds of years. ( Portugal 1st & longest lasting global empire over 600 years , Portugal 1st global super power ) One of the reasons the Vatican has had it in for Portugal since the 1319 when the Templars were organized once again in Portugal by King Dinis 1 under that name to protect remaining templars from death at the hands of the French king & Vatican pope . New evidence has shown that the Knights Templars were in fact in Portugal in 1111 way before the name was changed to Order of Christ Templars , so in fact Portugal & Templars have been joined at the hip for many many years, without them maybe Portugal is not on the map today , as for Portuguese people & their achievements & very important contributions to human evolution & their unique blood line well they can never destroy that now its world wide in many cultures & blood lines.

@@DrivermanO 0:26 Order of Christ Templar cross on sail is 1 of 4 crosses of Portugal Templars history.. also Portugal flag at stern of this replica . Templar Knights were in Portugal even earlier than 1119, the date most say the Order was created in France, but new evidence suggests the order had been in Portugal since 1111 ... 0:40 Spanish symbol on sail nothing to do with Templars & plus all Order of Christ Templar crosses were not straight lined but were all wider at all 4 ends of the red cross with 2 of them having a white inner cross completely straight lined to represent who the Templars truly worshiped & that was Jesus on the cross not the church & God.

Santa Maria was named after 1 of 9 islands of the Azores where Columbus left from on the first voyage to new world. Nina was named after Columbuses oldest sister who took care of him after his mother died in Portugal as a young boy, the Pinta is up for debate but I believe it was because no women were allowed on these types of expeditions so they called one of the 3 ships the Pinta ( a nick name for vagina by Portuguese ) all these men for months even years at sea with out female companionship they at least had a Pinta to look at as not to forget what was waiting for them on land some where hahaha , sure why not I've heard worse explanations :))) . Cuba was also named after Columbuses birth place a town in Portugal & before the island of Cuba was named there was only that town with the name Cuba not a coincidence I don't think & for the last time Columbus was not Spanish or Italian but yes a Portuguese who probably had Templar connections & not just to the king of Portugal. And by the way why isn't the most powerful battled ship in history of the time not on this video?? , yes I'm speaking of the Portuguese Man of War , first sail ship to employ canons, big & small, the 1st true destroyer in history with over 400 canon that the other countries copied like many other things Portuguese to be copied, they even named a very dangerous jellyfish (man of war) after the ship.... Portugal very underrated in many things the more I look back into our human history,, such a shame.
