AMAZING Gadget for Boondocking + Dry Camping | Victron Battery Monitor Install

Since we've been stuck at home on a mandatory shelter in place, we continue our series of RV repairs and upgrades with an installation of the Victron BMV 712 Battery Monitor. This thing has been described as a gas gauge for your batteries, but it is actually better than that because you get an exact percentage. Based on some initial tests, this is going to be great to have because the little light display on the main control panel is not even close to accurate and you need to know how much battery you actually have when boondocking/dry camping as well as to just ensure that you don't ruin your batteries!

Very helpful video, especially the focus on getting the wiring up front to the tongue. Thanks.

Any reason you went with the temperature monitoring model? I like the idea of actually knowing how much battery you have left. The prices I saw were a bit higher than you quoted. Another great video!

I didn’t buy the separate temperature thingy. I don’t really care about battery temp-I think that’s a bigger deal for lithium batteries. You’re totally right on the price. Someone from work had given me a $100 gift card so I only used $100 of my own money but it was actually $200. I forgot about that, thanks for the reminder!
