Amazing Chain Reaction Machine Tricks - Mechanical Madness

Ойын-сауық

Thanks for watching Mechanical Madness! This screenlink has been in the works for a few months now, and we are super happy with how it turned out. You can definitely tell how much our Rube Goldberg Chain Reaction machine style has developed, and we are super proud of this video showcasing our best machine tricks yet! As you can tell from the fail count on each clip, most of the tricks were pretty consistent, which something I'm very happy with when it comes to our developed building style. Let us know what you thought in the comments, and like and subscribe if you enjoyed!

So good! Not only has your style gotten better but the trick concepts you’re thinking up are getting much more intricate- the spinning double domino effect is a good example! I’m also really impressed how you got the kart to move in two directions for the cup kart and launch. And the pendulum with track is such a cool innovation- I can’t believe no one’s thought of that multi-use before!

Who makes this? I'm anxious thinking how this was constructed. A documentary video about the assembly of these machines will get thousands of views. A comment for the design should be almost a class about architecture and engineering. This is extremely beautiful in many ways.

This video’s awesome! There are some really great pathing sequences that are the so fun, I appreciate your attention to detail in seamless connection-work. Like the track that is used twice when it falls on the lever in the binder clip is niiice. And the two curved tracks falling away from each other, such a wondrous concept! There’s a ton of other good wons and like yeah this is a good video and you have a nice neat style that stays consistent throughout the video. It pretty good like wood

Wow!!! I am blown away by the level of ingenuity in this video! You have definitely come a long way since your last chain reaction screenlink! Here are my thoughts on each trick. Quadruple Pong Shot: This trick has a really nice aesthetic that comes with its symmetry. Also, you can't not like a quadruple pong shot. If I were you, I would have tried to do a few more tests of the trick to try to get the balls to sync up a little better. I do like this trick a lot though. Opening and Sliding Binder: Ooh, it's my double falling track trick from the Mouthwash Machine but with a common, everyday object! Using the binder as a track when it was closed was honestly really clever. The sliding motion and the cardboard track multi-use are nice touches too. Ball Chain on Tilted Board: Oh WOW, you just stole Joel's billiard ball chain idea and spiced it up. Pfft. I mean, who would do that, like, seriously? Lol, jokes aside, I loved what did you with this trick, how you actually redirected the balls to the bottom. You did what I wish I'd done when I spiced this trick up in 50CRT. The domino w/string launch is also a very nice touch..another DW18 idea ;) Was that intentional? Pendulum with Track: Hmm, this looks familiar... This is a really nice adaptation of this concept! Watching the track slide down the maze as the pendulum swings is satisfying to watch. If I were you, rather than having the machine wait for the board to stop swinging, I would have put the ball on a higher point on the board than the track and had to navigate the maze with the track. Then after the track is placed, the ball could have rolled off the maze and across the track. Still...really nice job here. Curved Tracks Falling Into Place: This is such a great idea! It's something I never would have thought of on my own. I'm really impressed that you were able to pull this off without magnets or anything (besides the ones used as weights). I also like the transition out of this clip since you created a track of your own out of an everyday object rather than just used a Hot Wheels track. Cup Kart + Launch: Ooh, this trick is SWEET. The second I saw this trick, I knew something big was about to go down. The fact that you moved the cup kart along both the x-axis and y-axis is impressive by itself, but the fact you made it into a timed launch tricks makes it even better! You guys must have been so excited when this worked. A couple pieces of advice for the future: try not to use as many cards when doing launch tricks. The fewer guardrails a trick has, the cooler it looks when it works. Also, if I were you I would have kept the camera in a stable position the entire time rather than briefly cutting away from the angle to follow the marble. I've learned that with screenlink clips, you don't need to show every single step. Cleanliness and showcasing the trick takes priority over a few transition steps imo. Seriously, though. This trick is awesome! The transition is pretty sweet too. Cup Launch with Pong Shot: I'm generally not a fan of machines ending in pong shots, but in this case, I'm willing to make an exception ;) This trickshot was awesome and really showcased the capabilities of those launchers. It's a great way to end the video. Spinning Double Domino Effect: I really liked this trick! It's very clean and shows off a common idea in a new way. The fact that you used tape boxes as dominoes brings the trick to life. I was also really impressed to see that you made this into a timing trick! You honestly have just had a ball roll down it after it stopped spinning and called it a day, but I love how you added an extra degree of spice in the trick. Tilted White Board with 4 Tracks: HMM THIS LOOKS FAMILIAR I loved this trick. The track-collecting motion was so much cleaner than when I did this trick with ping pong balls 2 years ago. The marble tricks were also a clean and impressive way of using the tracks in their initial positions. The wooden ball reuse was also clever. Nice work! Overall, awesome job! I'm absolutely blown away by what you guys put together for this project, especially considering that you're primarily domino builders. It's apparent that you really went all out making it a machine video to remember. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do for 11BC3. Also, did you guys build every clip together?

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! To answer your question, none of these clips were actually built together. Mostly built separately but we both participated in the video. Derek built these clips: Ball chain + tilted board. Quad pong shot. Spinning double domino timing trick. Track collector on white board. Cup cart + launch. Pendulum with tracks. Alex built these clips: Two curved tracks separated while falling. Opening and moving binder. Cup launch + pong shot.

BRAVO!!!! This was absolutely incredible!! You guys have seriously improved your style by great leaps and bounds since you've started building machines. Here are some of my thoughts: 0:17 - The fact that each ball had an exact destination after the "gate" was lifted blew me away. It's something that looks so uncontrolled on its surface, but ends up being so calculated to perfection. 0:30 - I kind of sense some inspiration from domino building in this clip. It has very much of the same symmetry that is embodied in domino art, and it makes for a beautiful machine clip. 0:40 - This one threw me off because the perspective of the camera made the curved tracks look straight, but it ended up making for a very surprising twist. The unfolding tracks was an incredible double use, and the fact that you were able to control them without use of k'nex or magnets is incredible. 0:50 - A beautiful take on a classic trick. The spinning platform makes this so much more enjoyable to me, not to mention how the ping pong ball reached the end of the tape packages as it stopped spinning AAAA. Perfect timing. 1:03 - A genius take on one of Gabe's tricks from the mouthwash machine. WOW. And you even used one of the tracks for the small green marble to roll on! 1:20 - Okay where do I even start with this one... The timing, once again, is PERFECT. It blows my mind how you were able to nail the trickshot while the cup was in motion and continued to move it to the destination track. That's RIDICULOUS. 1:37 - I would have *never* thought of doing this trick with a track sliding back and forth instead. SO CLEVER. And you even used the board as part of the path for the ping pong ball! 2:21 - Okay how many takes did this one take to work because I don't believe that this is in any way consistent, but that's what makes it a perfect screenlink clip. Since the clips are generally shorter in screenlinks, a certain level of inconsistency is acceptable as long as the builders are able to work with it as an obstacle to overcome by iteration. Regardless, the fact that you were even able to get this to WORK is INSANE!! What an outstanding ending to an outstanding video. You guys continue to impress me with not just your ingenuity in domino art, but chain reaction machines as well. This video kept me on the edge of my seat! It was so cool seeing the tricks that you drew inspiration from and how you viewed it in a different way to make something new. I always love seeing domino builders build machines, especially when they do it well, because it's easy for them to view things with an "artist perspective." When done correctly, these videos make for beautiful work of art, and this video is no exception. Well done you guys!!

This was amazing guys, not only have your machines become better, but your style has evolved to be pretty professional and pleasing watch. All the tricks stood out to me in their own right, but my favorite trick has to be the spinning track with the mini track dominos on it, such an elegant motion! The timing was amazing too so props on that. Though the Invention11 knex binder ball trick spice up and the crazy moving cup launch are worth mentioning as well. Overall one of my favorite videos of yours and I'm looking forward to seeing what you make machine wise in the future :)
