Dropping the guard down to one inch above wood being cut reduces the flex of the blade.

Come on, safety glasses are $.99 and a guard is no big deal. No, it doesn’t make anyone feel superior, but we saw too many children die from accidents with machines to actually take some small steps.

It is not a matter of any feelings of superiority, it's about concern for their safety. Things can go wrong in a fraction of a second. These workers could lose a hand or an arm or an eye in an instant. How would they feed their families if that were to happen? The owners of these unsafe factories make millions yet won't even provide the most basic safety gear. It's fucked up. Can't you see that?

Beautifully done! That half-lap, and mortise and tenon joinery takes a lot of skill, planning, and forethought on a piece this size! . And what's crazy is that 8/4" custom hand made Door jamb and transom probably still cost less than a 3/4" factory-made piece here in the US where quality and craftsmanship has gone to sh!t.. and I love that shoes are optional!

Hi watching the video I agree with the comment made, that does not take the skill away from these carpenters, when I was making this type of Joinery some years ago, made in a similar fashion, but using wedges and screw bolts on of the top joint, in the making of the circle after bandsawing I had a circle smoothing plane, Great video for people who haven't a clue how these items are made.
