The automation is increasing but those processes have been around since the days of the first blacksmiths, and in a basic form the machines have been doing pretty much the same since the industrial revolution

Wow cool , first time seeing this. I grew up across the street from a man named Raul Morals gone now, but he and two partners owned United Rolling in CA. And when someone came to them from the ANAHEIM stadium and wanted to build a BIG fn A in the parking lot Two guys walked away according to family ( cousin) so when you get a chance to see the big A in the parking lot like I do. Raul sed I'm a Angel fan!!. I see Raul , great Nabor alloways ready to help anyone, once a Marine always Marine.

Seeing all the heavy steel takes me back to laird's shipyard on the mersey as a boilermakers apprentice to my dad. This was the late 60s, The noise and smells of the place plus the fires and spark's going everywhere from different parts of the ship would be a vision of hell for a health and safety officer today. God it would be great if we had that industry back, it would give the youngsters of today some job security and the chance of a proper apprenticeship.

It's called a Dished Head. It gets welded onto the end of rolled cylinders. Used a lot for pressure vessels .
