winter one inefficency i saw in your opening is your building placement order... it takes time for the comander to spin around. try to build in a counter/clockwise order so he spins the same direction he's building, might save 2-4 seconds depending on how many revolutions your comander could take, usualy i have enough space to get 3 mexi, 3 solar/wind, and a factory without moving.
Impressive rally to hold vs top 3 enemy players at bottom. Very nice support by mid two players to fortify southern push and hold their anvil, Impressive drive up top when they didn't have overwhelming odds, just raw aggression. Overall very good team effort without need much coordination through comms.

He didn't really hold he got ran through multiple times they just never finished him for some reason even though they easily could have. Red hard carried this game. He pushed early and took out top bases if you watch the map then he came and wiped the rest. We should watch this from his perspective to see how to carry.
This is a really cool map. Interesting lanes with the top and bot being very important, and the mid split up by the craters. For Cortex, I wish the Karganath would be buffed a little, by making their models a little smaller (Like 10%-15% smaller) and quite a bit faster (Like 20% faster). The problem with them is how clunky they are, and how they cannot stack up in a good concave very well due to their giant boxy unit model, which limits their effective dps when massed, unlike the Shiva or the Marauder, or even the razorback. The dps of the Karganath is fine, but the unit just doesn't function well in practice I find due to how clunky it is to use, and due to how slow it still is despite being a unit designed to be mobile with the all terrain movement feature. It's large model and low level of tankyness also makes it die very quickly as it gets hit by everything. In short, I wish the Bar devs would take some more inspiration from the Core experimental units in Total Annihilation Escalation. They have some amazing tanks in their roster, which I really miss in BAR. The rocket bot which the Karganath is based on is also a lot more functional in TA:ESC, and I wish the Cortex version would behave and function more like that one, with a high upper dual missile turret which can rotate 360 degrees and shoot over itself more easily (Which gives it a way better concave potential, as units standing behind can still shoot over at the right angles).

TA ESC is like the golden standard for TA mods, so I would love to see BAR devs take some more inspiration. I specially want to see more hovercraft (t2 would be nice) and air experimentals for a a change

I had the same issues with the Platypus for Armada. I just went into the files, made my own widget (mod) and now they play exactly how i would like. Higher cost, higher health, harder to get en mass, micro dependent, high risk high reward, on a unit with a lot of versatility that needs micro to swing up vs heavier opponents. And they're adorable looking. Lol

Kargs are a bit under-performing in a slugfest, for sure... But they shouldn't be fighting units, they should be abusing terrain to hit soft targets from odd directions, like when people abuse air to build plasma cannons on otherwise impassable high ground, or when an enemy fusion farm is just on the other side of a mountain. In those situations, you don't need a lot of them, just a couple with t2 support will crush most structures short of retractable defensive emplacements very quickly. Even if you made the model and collision size a lot smaller so you could get a concave and use them to skirmish, you would probably still be better off spending all that metal on banishers or even mammoths. Karganeths are very situational and map dependent, even completely unchanged on some maps they can be awesome, but on a lot of them, they are barely worth it. Core is kinda about clunky and slow units to be honest and that trend amplifies the higher you go up the tech tree, I don't like the idea of balance changes shifting that dynamic too much. If anything, they need to fix mobile jammers if they haven't yet. Last I played a bunch, they would stop working the moment they took damage, and it was definitely a bug.
Was a fun game! Still have a lot to learn but I haven't had this much fun playing an RTS in a long time.

You came in reeeeally clutch down south. Winter wouldn't have held on without you.
Thanks for the cast !
Dude, that was sweaty AF... shoutout to Farmer for his awareness and helping you hold the south :) That would have been a sure loss right there. I guess that brand got wrecked somehow early on and didn't have the means to push the crater, that would have been even more of a mess.
In the early game turret wars, you can outrange enemy LLTs with a medium turret - beamer for arm, the twin turret for cortex. Not as expensive as a heavy laser turret, but has more poke than an LLT. You can poke down their static D much more cheaply and it builds faster, but you do have to build a bit more forward than you would with a heavy turret. It makes sense whenever you have a t1 constructor on your front line and neither side has rocket bots.
Well balanced game. Clutch in the center. For the first 15 minutes or so, I thought this video was going to be a lesson on how to lose gracefully. Well done.
Please, where did you find this song: "Russell Lucas-Nutt - Fading Hope of Victory" at 6:40 Can't find it with Google or Shazam :/
The music today is especially fun.
when you said SC2 I first thought on Supreme Commander 2, not StarCraft XD
when winter's bottom lane got pushed back and his base was raided i got ptsd from my own games ._.
13:40: This is the problem with putting so much into static D - the enemy can just go around. Or kill it with Arty.
The video's great, loved it! But i have a question: what's the song that start around about 2:00? I might be blind but i didn't see anything about it in the video or description

yeah pretty much the entire dev team is just a constant growing team of modders. I was in the discord chatting with them trying to learn how to code to make my own stat changes on units. They helped me out a lot and they're quite friendly. This is a great community and game to be a part of right now

How do you fight sheldons? Whenever my opponent gets them im just screwed. He can inch up on mu defenses and any time i try to counter attack 80 percent of my forces are destroyed before even getting in range. If I go t2 bots against t2 vehicles i just lose.

You can deny vision, counter barrage them, or run around them. In general artillery have poor dps compared to similar cost units so you can just force a confrontation.

Specializing in tech is a thing, so there's room for both fast and slow clickers. Some players want to be on the front lines, click a lot and deal with the chaos. A good tech will be able to support them with some extra units, donate resources as possible and rush up to T3 to tip the final balance. There's one major rule here, however. Map awareness.
@darkranger116

Same dude, and ive been playing RTS for years. Ive got like 13 hrs in the game, and i've still only played against simpleAI and constructionAI. You can totally play this game at your own pace to get a handle on things vs those AI types, they will literally just sit there and puddle around doing very little and give you the time and space to actually formulate wtf is going on.
@EugeneParallax
Жыл бұрын
I think that's deceptive perception. BAR/TA are relatively slow-tempo compared to RTS like Starcraft. Maps are larger and units are slower. You don't really need that much APM, as long as your decisions and orders are actually sound. As soon as you're able to run two parallel processes (economy and army control) somewhat confidently, it is not that bad.
the only thing i dont like about this RTS is that because of the tactical view you spend most of the time on that super high top down view, and you do not see actually the units smashing each other, no explosions no micro, its all macro... Kinda reminds me of Deserts of Kharak, awesome vibe and graphics but you spend 99% of the time in tactical view looking at squares and triangles :D
@echommm3621
Жыл бұрын
Great for spectators though!
@Draeckon
Жыл бұрын
This game requires both macro and micro together. Just massing a lot of units won't work against an opponent that's more efficient with their units, while likewise microing super hard without a steady flow of units to replenish losses will eventually lose you the game (unless you sneak by and land a critical attack on their production, I guess)
@catbert7
Жыл бұрын
That is the downside of macro RTS. The more stuff going on, the more you benefit from zooming out, the less cinematic it gets. Similarly, Planetary Annihilation added more strategic depth by having spherical maps, but then you can't see all the action at once. Always tradeoffs. Love it when we get to go cinematic mode in a replay though.

hey now I LIKE my squares and triangles blowing each other up.
I wish Supreme Commander was as popular as this game. BAR is essentially just a watered down remake. Still fun but definitely a lot less unit variation, upgrades and especially experimentals.
