Listen people I will graduate from undergrad at 24 then plan to go to grad school and finish by 27ish. Then med school. I wont finish till I'm most likely in my late thirties but who cares. Age is just a number. I want to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. I want to be able bring everything I have to the table. I want to show adcoms that I didn't just go to school and learn nothing. I want to stand out. For people who tell you that its too late fuck them. They are the ones that don't deserve to practice medicine. At the end of the day a doctor is a doctor. Just keep on grinding and surpass those losers.

35 Starting. I was delayed with school with being sick and a few unfortunate circumstances. All I know is I would regret it later on if I did not go for it. There were many other jobs I could have gone and done instead of continuing my education. Never can go wrong with investing in yourself and gaining more knowledge.
I'm 38 and start med school in July. Because I'm an Army vet with the Hazlewood Act, I only applied to Texas public medical schools.First gen college grad. Slept on a relatives couch for 2 years during this process. Not bad for a blue collar white boy that used to be a Walmart cart pusher while most premeds are graduating undergrad.

Volunteered for 200+ hrs at the hospital over 1.5 years. 50 hrs shadowing. MCAT is no joke. I used to sit in my car and watch khan akademy videos from my laptop in my old 2001 accord. If I can do it...No excuses.
@briang8663

There are several ways to do this and any experience you get should fall under clinical. Paid experience: Scribe is the best, but it's low pay. Google. EMT/CNA. Time consuming, but options. Volunteering: Large hospitals in every big city will usually have volunteering opportunities. Check their main website. Some require a commitment of time. Hospice and retirement homes are good. You may just spend time with people that are often lonely and lost the ability to do things outside and want visitors. (Admission committee want to see altruism) In large cities like Houston, there are volunteering websites. e.g volunteerhoust.org I did patient transport. Many volunteered in the ER, mostly serving drinks or bringing people blankets. Hospitals are usually kept cool. Whatever you do, if you are wondering if it's considered clinical or not, remember this, if you are close enough to smell patients, then it's clinical.

Abraham Salas dude hell yes, I’m 32 also, and am applying next year after finishing my pre reqs with an undergrad in psych and a masters in psych. I’m nervous because my undergrad gpa is a 2.7, and my grad gpa is a 3.1, I plan on destroying the mcat and continuously volunteering at md Anderson cancer hospital prior.
This is the year of the 37. I have always known in the back of my mind what i was sent here to do. Through social conditioning i allowed outside opinions to influence my perception of what I could be. My degree is in business management, however I have never worked within the confinns of an office. I've enrolled in college again and I am going to start knocking out these prerequisites and folloe my passion. Thanks for the inspirational words.
I'm 27 and half way through my associate degree. This was definitely encouraging!
I just turned 29 and I'm looking into one year post bacc programs to start in January 2017! I'd love to be in med school by 30! I'm going to be a Physiatrist. It's a must!!!

Linny Cleveland love the focus. I think Med school by 30 isn't going to be possible because the application takes a calendar year, so the earliest you could start is June 2018. But, a year is nothing in the scope of the medical journey. If you're looking into post baccs, see my video breaking down the pros and cons of post bacc programs.

Thank you so much Dr. Andre Pinesett! You really motivated me to continue my med school this coming school year. I'm really grateful for your inspiring words!
Yep this is the video I needed. I am in my first year of undergrad at 30 years old. This is all I need to keep going.!
Thank you so much for this. I'm turning 30 this summer and I am taking my MCAT and applying this year. I have worked different jobs over the last several years and none of them ever really spoke to me so I came to the conclusion that I need to go to medical school to get a job that will make me happy. I think the time I have spent after undergrad was really good for me even if I delayed applying until now. Thank you for reminding me that there really is no one way to do things ... if this is what you want, this is what you want. :)
I'm 25, just went to orientation for community college today to start this journey off. Your video here has really settled some worries I've had about this issue. David Moya Did you go for it? I know it’s been two years since your comment on Dr. Pinesett’s video, so I’m curious...
Thank you so much for this video. Pretty much answer a question that I have been asking myself, for a little over one year.
thank you silver fox. I'm 29 and interested in becoming a doctor! thank you for the motivation
This was so encouraging. I am a registered occupational therapist (masters in OT,) 3 bachelor's in health administration/biology/ occupational therapy, and an associate degree in Occupational Therapy.... I have always been drawn to medicine and the art of researching to find a root cause of patients ailments (i even find myself doing it with my therapy patients)..i began reading old medical journals in my youth..but i didn't see myself going through so many years of schooling..my parents needed help right away (this is why i did the AS, then BS, then MS)..but looking back I wish i had stuck with my passion. I am 34 now, married and trying to start a family now..i stillllllllll ended up spending alot of my life in school seeking higher education.. I pray one day soon to be able to pursue my dreams of becoming a physician.
Thank you for this video! I have a medical past and am strongly considering going back to college to finish my B.S. degree. I’m a 29 year old mom of two children (6 and 8). If I do this, I know it will likely be more challenging than anything I’ve ever accomplished but it has been my dream for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I would constantly read my grandmother’s old medical textbooks. Whenever anyone around me is sick, injured, or has questions about medication, people do ask my advice. Unfortunately, I can’t say it’s my opinion as a “medical professional”. Sometimes I “diagnose” when someone I know is in need of medical care and I’m usually correct about it after their visit. I feel in my heart that this will always be my passion. I hope that I have what it takes to make this a reality.
Nice video I’m 37 back to Dental School will be 41 and a Dentist, finally did it after 13 years working as a hygienist but feeling good about it, I feel I have enough experience and knowledge of what I’m studying, ahead from my classmates both life experience and work experience wise. I now believe there is timeframe for everything, things are happening to us when we are ready to accept it....
Omg. Your story about your colleague who was an actor really stuck with me because I'm doing the same thing!
This is wonderful inspiring information to everyone interested in going to medical school. Love it!
I’m a few pre-reqs shy of being able to sit for the MCAT, and I started my post-bacc last year a week before my 30th birthday. I started this journey after overcoming medical issues and a lot of self doubt (hating HS chemistry was a big reason I wasn’t premed in college). My BA is in English with a psychology minor and I worked in education before making the switch to medicine. I work in healthcare so both that and teaching will work in my favor in med school and as a practicing physician. Thanks Dr. P for your encouragement!
Sir your videos are very inspirational and motivating. May God bless you.
I really needed this, Dr. Andre Pinesett! I will be 34 this year and I've been beating myself up for so long for not going for my passion and following my dreams after college. I have begun to think that I'm too far behind, I'm not smart enough, I can't make myself this disciplined or motivated again...but it's possible. I've always gotten "other" jobs, most unrelated to my major (Biology) and I told myself maybe that was a sign, that maybe medicine wasn't my calling after all. However, that hasn't worked, because God always finds a way to bring medicine back to me. I don't know where to start, and that scares me, but I really want to do this. I guess I could re-take all my pre-reqs since I haven't worked in my field and have been out of school for 11 years. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Love your channel. New sub!
Thank you for this video! I am 29 and have a great career in real estate but my deep love for medicine has not gone away! I'm going to apply to spring semester 2019 to continue my education. Hopefully by 33 - 34 ill start med school . Maybe ill come back to this comment in 4 years and update. Our minds are wonderful things that can accomplish anything we work towards.
My two cents: I was scared going back to school for years. It was when I realized I would graduate on my 30th birthday and have less time as a career than graduating when I was 29 if I had just taken the leap. And I wasn’t even the oldest in my class. The mentality that held me back is all ego and fear. Once you get over that, “never too late” has a whole different meaning.
Thanks for the encourage. You are very inspiring.
Great advice thanks bro, I’m truly motivated

For all of you who have it in your heart to become a doctor, Stay motivated! That dream that won't go away is a prompting from your creator.
