The speed that i am getting on speed test is 20mbps which is my plan but when i download stuff on my PS4 or playstore it will only be like 4mbps. Which is strange since speed test using different speed test apps shows the right speed. Can you help me with this.

VPN is good for privacy not boosting your speed. VPN adds another hop in the signal path. The only case where VPN improves speed is if your ISP throttles specific types of traffic, for example streaming video. Most ISPs do not do this and therefore VPN will actually make you internet connection slower. I went from 943 Mbps with no VPN to 122 Mbps using a VPN. My latency also went from 8 ms up to 46 ms.

Don't forget that if the website you are visiting has a lot of json ajax, and JavaScript it will take a long time to load despite your internet speed. And also many hosting providers have slow servers so the website loads slowly. It's not just relative to what internet speed you have at home.

So if the VPN speed test is the real speed, how do I get my paid speed? I’m a little confused how vpn testing will show you slow speeds but give you fast speeds at the same time.

Wild, this was just one huge ad lol cause a vpn helps in a sense by masking what you're doing but they can still see how much data you're using which if over their Cap (yes even unlimited data has a cap before they throttle your connection which usually resets monthly) your data will just be throttled anyways.

One thing they won't tell you if you're on cell data is that if you live within more than one tower, they can charge your data for more that one connection which doubles your data usage! As if you were roaming! When traveling shut your data off! That will help, and when you need data, stop, use it and shut it down!

The problem I have is when I do a Speed test with a local area server l, the speed is correct, but when I do a speed test to a server that's far away or out of state, the speeds won't go above 8Mbps, this is crucial because I use video apps and cloud gaming that are out of my local area and can't use them even tho I have the speed, but can't because my connection is slow outside.

Sy Sabian 2 minutes ago (edited) I have the XB8 modem. It's 15 ft from my computer. It took 2 and 1/2 days to download microsoft flight sim. 5-12mbps. I just got the Lenovo Legion T5. I hvn't been overcharged once yet I cannot for the life of me get my download speed to raise above 5-12mbps. Please help. I've done everything I can think of. BTW, I pay for 1.2gbps, and still 5-12mbps.

Your modem / Your ISP / Your VPN / Internet ... throttling happens at the ISP level prior to your VPN connection therefor if your being throttled at the ISP level a VPN will never increase your speed because encrypted or not your ISP is throttling your connection because the ISP is shady no matter how big of a company they are. A good comparison would be ----- you have a bank that restricts your bank card from being used until you call and complain then they have to send someone out to your house to look at the card -- but several days latter -- not right now.

It worked for me. I went from 40 Mbps to 64 Mbps . They must’ve been throttling me. The iPad still shows cellular data being used though.

i had metro pcs for years same plan about six months when i run out of high speed dat the phone didn't work,, mms sending pictures even just regular txts,, i never had a problem with running out of high speed everything worked except maybe watching video. The first time i called a tec rep did something to my phone and it worked fine. Then a few months later the same problem and they just tried to get me to buy more data (even telling me that I couldn't send pictures with out high speed data,, this was a lie my plan was supposed to go to 3g when i used my high speed data up}.. So I switched to mint mobile so far its working fine.......

I believe my ISP is specifically throttling Microsoft Flight Simulator Data. When I log in and start a flight I was getting 3 or 4 FPS. It didn't matter how many times I rebooted, shut down MSFS I was running into the same issue over and over. I logged into Nord VPN and MSFS worked flawlessly. Coincidence?

This is about how I feel right now with my ISP we had a problem that they cause via miscommunication with the ex-wifi owner so they shut off our wifi but still too other money for the month,their fix for it was to give us a new router since the other was turned off or something along those lines and every since the new one was given too us out Mbps had be way lower then usual but the connectivity is still 100% they did report a tower that had broke but that was about a month or two ago just though if i could get some thoughts on this little did I mention before hand the old router was perfect no problems unless it was bad storming but this one even with just KZread surfing on a few phones slows it down to 3.8 on last speed test

Back in the day I got the first dual processor droid bionic with Verizon. The plan was for 2gb a month without out any throttling I believe. Sometime later they doubled the plan for free and was now set for 4gb per month. The fine print that I stupidly agreed to (because i saw “double” and free and click hell yes) simply said after the use of 2gb the download speed would be throttled . It was easy to torrent on the bionic . When I did pass the 2gb download mark the connection speed was like using a 14.4 dial up modem. Brought back bad memories . Anyway , ttyl

its amazing that you pay for something they can take away at any time, i litterally just advertized my chad base in rust, no doubt i have been offline raided by now, i spent 2hrs talking to support and they tryed saying its my fult when i already confirmed it was telstra, whats the point of paying for interent when it gets taken away, i should be getting 75mbps and im getting 0.05mbps, and sometimes 2mbps, my upoad is worse, i cant even play games and thats exactly why i get the internet, they said they will monotor it for 24 hrs, do all companys do this ?

I'm actually getting throttled because of the content I look up depending on what it is because all of the same type of Content is throttled. If it's even political in nature, it's throttled.

I dont care about testing IF iam being throttled, I want to know how to stop and prevent throttling. A VPN is limiting as it has to be on every device on the network. not possible. If the provider sees a VPN and auto throttles then again, it's not useful. If i have a vpn on my main computer but i am being throttled because other devices, it doesn't stop the throttling on my network making the device with the vpn still slow

I'm using boost Mobile myself and they started throttling it at certain time day after I paid I wasn't even using the internet then when I needed it they cut it off and throttled it to below the 600 kilobits a second that they're required to by the government in this country

My cable provider (Spectrum) doesn't need to hide throttling. I've replaced my service line to the house all the connectors. Had the tech regulate my signal with two splitters. I bought brand new equipment, (modem. nest router with satellites) and nothing changed. The signal analysis suggested the modem was operating as advertised (both the old one and new). I'm paying for 500Mbs but never exceeds 50mbs down and 20mbs up. Can the modem test out at 500Mbs but not deliver? What upstream can cause this? I've had the techs out twice and everything checks good. WTF?

Yeah im being throttled. 400mbps during the day and at 9pm to 6am I get 0.7mbps. Suddenlink btw.

Not your ISP, that is your network administrator (your mom or dad) throttling your device when you should be sleeping so that you will get tired of fighting it and go to bed instead of staying up all night watching KZread videos and chatting with friends. Now I know you are staying up all hours of the night even though you say you were "in bed". Just put the thing down and go to sleep.

@@edman714 well I have the free version of Windscribe and this way you get 10 GB per month so yeah it’s quite good in android and iOS. Also unblocks some websites nord can’t unblock. So if you wanna go for it then go but one thing, Windscribe is terrible for pc. It slows down the internet and you’ll get higher ping in game lmao
