@walshconcretecoatings
5 ай бұрын
stored inside
@justdoingitjim70952 жыл бұрын
I hope yours lasted longer than mine did. After only 3 years the plywood started warping and delaminating. I sealed mine on both sides and the edges with marine varnish and then covered it all with outdoor carpet like yours. It stayed out in the rain and sun because I didn't think I'd need a cover. The rain would run off and out the back. If I ever did it again I'd invest in a cover even though they only last a few years themselves. A cover is a lot cheaper than all the work and material I put into it!

I just asked my friend and he said boat plus trailer was 1000$, Johnson motor 1750, trolling motor 500, and probably 400-500 to redo the boat and the trailer
Just what Im looking for simple ideas as I have a similar very old boat my main concern is rebuilding the transom
Great build. Good attention to detail. Always concerned when foam is taken out of a boat and not added somewhere else. Family of four died in California a few years back when gale force winds swamped their boat in June Lake, a high altitude trout lake in California. Attributed to foam removal. Boat sunk in middle of lake in 45 degree water.

They should have been off the lake long before any gale force winds. People need to be observant of the weather when in a boat on a lake or river of any size. They were not too smart.

@@greggmeyer5836 You have mere minutes in "45 degree water" even if you're clinging to a hull.

@@mattblake9936Actually it does. A gale can develop out of nowhere in mere minutes. They died because of hypothermia even though they had life jackets. Flotation foam would have made no difference.
One thing you forgot, drink holders lol. Great build.

That's one thing I have to add to my boat now that you mention it. I got a 14' Northwood
How fast does that 25 Johnson move that boat?
If this was automotive paint, how has it held up? Awesome build!
Hola amigo excelente proyecto! Tengo un bote similar y lo quiero restaurar parecido al tuyo, que me recomiendas en materiales resistentes a el agua salada...? Saludos desde Costa Rica.. Pura vida! 🇨🇷✌️🎣😎

Which trailer is that?
I have the same trolling motor on my Bass Tracker and was wondering how I could fix that cumbersome foot pedal! Still unclear on what you used to recess it in the floor. Could you tell me exactly what that pan is?

im not sure if I can post links in comments but I will try at the end of this comment but if you search for aluminum dryer vent box you should get a couple of links with what we used. here's the link to the one we got www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-11-75-in-x-20-125-in-Aluminum-Dryer-Vent-Box/3203053?user=shopping
🤔So your friends a very good watcher isn't he 😉😆🍻
Are concerned about removing the floatation material? Did you inject some foam elsewhere? The boat looks real nice!
Awesome work guys. The only thing I see is the fenders on the trailer seems a bit small. It might rub on the wheels over bumps? Is this boat a 14 or 16 footer?
@walshconcretecoatings
2 жыл бұрын
you could be right if it got pretty bumpy. We went a lot bigger than the original wheels just for looks but we probably went a little too big for keeping the original fender size.

You should add a support brace from motor foot to trailer for hauling to take strain off transom

This is sweet. I have a 17' flat bottom. I want to do this to mine. But I know its a lot of work, time and money. If you don't mind me asking. What did something like this cost to redo?

Looks good but i got one question for you . Why do you have ores in the boat when you don't have any ore locks ? Even if you did there is no way to row it because you took out the bench seat that you sit on to row the boat . And what did you do for your navigation lights ? I did subscribe to your channel . Maybe that was more than one question .😁
@walshconcretecoatings

Thats a good point i think when my friend bought the boat it just came with ores. Not sure why lol and That bench missing in the middle is actually factory we didn't remove any benches. There aren't any navigation lights on this boat
I may have missed it or have'nt read far enough but why paint with brush when you could of sprayed it like bottom?????
@walshconcretecoatings

The original plan was to leave the inside as is but later on in the project we decided to paint the inside and it wasn't at our paint shop anymore so we just decided to brush it
noob question.. are there any drain underneath? wonder if it will accumulate water under the seats..
@walshconcretecoatings
Жыл бұрын
yup there's a drain in the back and underneath is all open so it can drain out if any water gets in
Do you store the boat inside or outside, do you have any problems with the wood rotting?
@walshconcretecoatings
5 ай бұрын
stored inside
I hope yours lasted longer than mine did. After only 3 years the plywood started warping and delaminating. I sealed mine on both sides and the edges with marine varnish and then covered it all with outdoor carpet like yours. It stayed out in the rain and sun because I didn't think I'd need a cover. The rain would run off and out the back. If I ever did it again I'd invest in a cover even though they only last a few years themselves. A cover is a lot cheaper than all the work and material I put into it!

@justdoingitjim7095

@@laurencegiersch9615 It could be, but I don't want to take anymore chances. I've already talked to a metal fabricator and he said they could do it with all aluminum and I wouldn't have to ever worry about it again. The cost would be about twice what I spent on it already and I'd still have to carpet it. But, I'd be done and not have any future worries about rot or warping!

@Mackatax 1114 No, I didn't. The Lowes where I shop says they can't get it, so I just used exterior plywood. Doesn't matter now because I'm going to use sheet aluminum to replace the plywood.
