    Thanks, Dave. Great video. Got the Altra Torin 4.0 which I will be using to run 2 of my ultra marathons. So far holding they are holding up well at over 450km. Escalante’s remain my favourite due to the Ego midsole’s response compared to the quantic midsole. The Torin 5 I am interested in but they are cost around £160 here in the UK which is quite steep.

    Lone Peaks are my favourite for trail, so I tried the Escalante 2.5 for road but the Escalante did not work for me at all. The mesh upper did not provide any structure and my foot moved all over the place. I’ve been wanting to try the new Torins but how does their upper compare to that of the Escalante? Do the Torins have more of a locked in feel or are they also really loose?

  • @ChaseTheSummit

    @ChaseTheSummit

    2 жыл бұрын

    The Torin's definitely have less structure than the Lone Peaks but I think that's mainly because they lack any welded overlays like a trail shoe. They do have a nicely structured heel cup though. Hope that helps!

    I like ultra shoes but I’ve just never been able to get totally transitioned too them. I dunno if they just don’t work for me or what it is. I found 4 to 6 mm drop works best for me as I’m still a forefoot striker but the zero just tears my legs up. I’m a pretty seasoned runner too been running off and on for almost 10 years. Maybe I’ve just never given them enough of a chance. Anyhow great video brother

    Shoe's are such a personal thing which is why I'm hesitant to "review" them on my channel. A lot of times something that feels great and works for me may not work for you. • @ChaseTheSummit

    They're pretty darn similar. I prefer the fit of the Torin 5 which is why I ended up buying them. The Clifton 8 has a tighter mid-foot area where it got a little too tight on my hobbit feet. In terms of the ride, the Torin 5's are more cushioned and squishy. The Clifton 8's have a stiffer ride and feel a bit faster and responsive. At the end of the day I think the fit of the shoe will take priority. I love the Clifton's but they just don't fit me that great. Thanks for watching Tom!

This model is very poorly rated on their website and the vast majority of the complaints are about the sharp tongue that cuts their ankles when they are not wearing socks. Has this bothered you either with or without socks? 4. Do you have any thoughts on Olympus 4? How is Torin 5's width compared to Olympus 4? 5. I’m really disappointed with the buying process so far. I’m in the UK 🇬🇧 and the day the Torin 5 appeared on the European Altra site I bought them there and then in a size 9 as I have the Torin 4 in a 9 and they are the best running shoes I’ve ever had. They came (9 days later shipped from Italy) way too short couldn’t get my foot in them. And they cost £160 GBP (around $225 USD). I then see they are available from an online UK store from £129 ($189) 😡 so I order them in a 9 1/2 they came next day and still too short and the quality isn’t the greatest, baggy mesh on the right instep. Loosing faith in Altra as a brand, I also have the Superior and Escalante Racer, and want to support the brand but it’s difficult as very few shops stock them in the UK
