This warm up is meant to be pretty comprehensive in what it covers. Starts off easily enough with a five note scale. Proceeds on to one of my favorite tone balancing exercises and eventually covers the upper register in a number of exercises including tonal onsets that are over the secondo passaggio (the break.)
Finishes up with a lovely melismatic minor chord cool down to settle your voice down for your songs!
Enjoy!

There's something very special about this warm up in particular! For we highly anxious types (present!) this one REALLY helps to open up the voice, which helps to bring anxiety about being heard/projecting etc waaaay down! Big thank you as always, Jeff for this excellent warm up!

Reading this in 2024 and I 100% agree!
These warm-ups are way cooler than others out there. I actually have fun doing them. I find these warm-ups much more melodic. Some warm-ups out there are cheesy and they feel like exercises. With these I actually feel like I am singing while warming up.😆

Excellent! Thank you for watching and thank you for your kind words. Scales of all varieties form the foundations of our melodies and songs, I certainly do my best to make the patterns as melodic and fluid as I can. I certainly play them feeling that they are music, and not only a precursor to music. I am glad that that comes through! Thank you again! Enjoy the channel! Jeff
God! that good. Especially the ending, it was so therapeutic. Thank you for such a valuable contribution.

I feel the same way Jeff, I was struggling to find the placement for my falsetto and higher head voice. I spent a lot of time working on the tenor range but after working with this videos for alto for 3 days my voice feels like its permanently warmed up even my speaking voice is beginning to sound different. Definitely helps stretching to the alto range

@@katarzynaszyffer2217 sorry missed your comment, I used to pull my chest voice as high as I could, compensating for lack of a mixed voice, now it's a bit easier I've developed the feel and sound of a mixed voice, even my falsetto sounds a lot thicker...

I've been doing these exercises everyday for a about a week now and can see the improvements. This has been really good for my alto range and learning to control my instrument. Thanks Jeff!

Thank you so much. Your videos have been a godsend. Thanks for sharing your talents and being so helpful!
my favourite warm up of all I use it a lot! thanks so much.
2 Weeks ago I started doing your singing warm ups daily or at least every other day (I was never interested in singing until I was 20, I'm 21 now) and in the beginning my highest note I could hit in my chest voice was G4 - today I hit C5!! I hit it at the exercise at 14:50 😊 Still a long way to go and I am propably going to take singing lessons soon, but it's such a big improvement for me. Thank you so much! :)

Hello Jeff, after 2 1/2 half years I finally write a comment! ;D I was singing in choir and it was fun, but I had problems. I was flat singing most of the time. I was singing Bass-Baritone. Than I found your baritone videos and it became a bliss to me. I became better and better .. Some day it was too boring for me and I tried the Tenor range videos. Omg, this was so damn struggling for me in the higher parts/secondo passaggio! :) I practiced a lot of your Tenor range videos and I'm became better still.. Since 2 months I practice (almost daily) your Alto range videos. To check how far can I go with my head voice. And it has really (REALLY) imroved! My head voice become stronger and doesen't sound breathy anymore. I'm little bit cracking still at the secondo passaggio by the Alto range - Ah, Ay, Oo vowles pretty hard for me. But today I made it almost perfect. I will keep working on it. Mabye someday I will reach the Mezzo-Soprano range?! :D To make it short, thanks for your videos! I'm lucky that I found it. Yeah, I'm a fan of your videos. Thanks for your time and to share these with US! And I think they helped a lot of people they have fun to sing - like I do. Nice regards! :)

4:04 "short note short breath" is really a great exercise... I guess it's"singing with the diaphragm" as some people say...but the breath control you can get is remarkable. this Alto warm up are cool for getting agility on the tenor upper register. Bravo maestro! 🎶🎹🎤
Ugh thaT laST PaRT 🥰🔥🔥 JusS beauTiFuL ❤️👏👏
Magnificent 👍❤️
I and my entire choir do your warmups regularly as a prep for liturgical singing. Are you able to do any warmups for the singer whose vowels need to have those really precise classical mouth shapes and more unmodified or closed, pure vowel sounds? So thankful for your contributions, I don’t go anywhere else now and will check out your Patreon! Always appreciate your relaxed soothing voice too. Thank you Jeff!

Thank you so much and much gratitude to the choir for singing a-long with me and the exercises! I'll give it some thought! Thanks for the suggestion!
Nice!
Yesterday, I detected plain C2 as regular speaking voice, and have just visited the baritone warm-up. This here is a challenge, and thus not that boring, as for those at normal speaking voice on C3.
I am a mezzo-soprano but today I've come to realize I might have to start here and then do that video after!! Darnnnnn
Awesome vocal warm-ups! Do you have videos on technique?
@JeffRolka

I do! I have things separated out into playlists. You can find them here: kzread.infoplaylists Best! Jeff
I'm glad to find these videos and I am going to practice with them, but could you write the names of the notes in subtitles, so that I know what exactly to sing? I'm not good at recognising notes by ear, but if I knew what notes those should be, I would do the exercises with my tuner, to make sure it's right.
Thank you for all your help! For the one octave scales, i find that once I have to go into my mixed or head voice, I lose ALL power and control!! It's quite extreme, do you have any tips to strengthen this area, or is it just practice practice practice
@JeffRolka
5 жыл бұрын
Kind of, but it would be wise to make sure you're practicing correctly. If you want power up there, you need balance, and that means achieving a balanced transition across the secondo passaggio that allows the vocal fold to remain adducted. Focus on that and the power and control will come. Jeff
