Altering National Geographic magazine pages with Citrasolv

Thanks so much for watching. Today I decided to play with some National Geographic magazines and citrasolv to alter the magazine pages.
**If you decide to try this project, please work in a well ventilated area. Citrasolv is made from essential oils so the scent can be pretty strong, if you’re sensitive to smells. It smells nice, just strong. 😉

This is a cool technique. I have used This before to do stop removal. Like leave a horse and erase everything else. We used q-tips to dissolve the other images. This is so much easier!!! I think they all look great!!

Thank you so much for watching! I may use the q-tip idea to work on some of the pages that didn’t turn out exactly. Thanks so much!

Does it work only on mags that are from a particular yr? I heard that before but no one mentions it lately.

@kristinamullen4066 it definitely has to be a National Geographic. I’m not sure that the year matters. The ones I used were more recent.

Citrasolv is a concentrated degreaser made from Valencia oranges. I’m not sure what the equivalent would be in your country. You might be able to find it through Amazon.

I was wondering if I could use these in Bible journaling? I wasnt sure since a page would be in between two bible pages. Would the solvent lighten the bible text over time? Or could I use a gesso or some sort of medium to seal it in? Thanks for your videos. They are so helpful

Thanks for watching! I’ve never tried using them in my Bible so I honestly can’t say. I would imagine you could use something to seal it. Sorry I don’t have more answers for you! I’ll try to experiment with it in my Bible and see what happens.
