Yea, season 1 was better in almost every aspect... the story was smaller, more personal, not as focused on the "basics" of the world, and more creative. I basically knew the alien "twist" by episode 2. There also was some "woke" stuff that felt out of place in a trans humanist universe... I was fine with Anthony Mackie, though, even if he played the character VERY differently.
I’m guessing their was budget cuts for season 2 . Season 1 just had so much detail and world building and gave a blade runner feel.

I think Mackie Kovacs roll showed growth due to learning how to truly care for others, driven by love of Quell, and having a true purpose. Not to me mention he has to kill his own little sister, he's mother daughter whom was killed by the father who made him into the shallow cynical suicidal warrior he was.
Angelfire is NOT the weapon Danica was seeking all season. That would be the weapon they thought was being used to wipe DHF backups
Season 1 was considerably better, season 2 was way too action heavy and the story was quiet frankly "too convenient" in too many places. Some of the dialogue seemed way more forced in season 2 compare to 1.

Not as noir as season 1, a bit more sci-fi imo, especially with the whole elders stuffs. but I think the ending was satisfying enough especially with that real deathed of Danica, what a complete maniacal evil B LOL Here's hoping the birth sleeve Takeshi Kovacs get more time in season 3 after that ending, WIll Yun Lee is pretty underrated. Also, it was Kovacs himself that turn on the angelfire on him. It's the only way to permanently killed the elder that got stucked in his stack, not being "too late." What is being pretty convenient is how Poe able to copy-paste his DHF so fast, especially since he was in such a sorry state & about go complete shut down. It's such cheap plot way to avoid real death & the end scene basically kinda cheapen Kovacs's sacrifice. I don't like it.

For the people that don't know, the first season showrunner/writer/executive producer was Laeta Kalogridis. she is well known in Hollywood and worked with with Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Ridley Scott and more and now she was very busy for season 2 and Netflix brought Alison Schapker as co-showrunner alongside Laeta Kalogridis. it was announced that Schapker would be the primary showrunner for the series, replacing Laeta Kalogridis who is still credited as an executive producer. Alison Schapker worked with JJ Abrams on the shows that were a hit in the beginning but they ended them BADLY like Alias, LOST, Fringe, Almost Human was even cancelled, she worked on CW shows Flash and the others. So a little let down in the post. Quellcrist Falconer is a real side character in the books and in the season 2 Kovacs was second to her in his own series.

Both seasons are great. Don’t understand the disliking towards season 2. Just finished it about 20 minutes ago! I really hope season 3 is just as good. I would like to see how Ortega’s story has continued over the years between seasons and whether she will make an appearance in the third but I can tell that it would be unlikely due to her religion not accepting re-sleeving. As for Poe, he’s one of my favourite characters and I do hope that he regains his memories in time for a new season as it was quite hard to see such a loved character slowly decay over the course of the story. But my real question is will the revolution finally win over the use of stacks and return humanity to its mortal ways? And will Takeshi prime continue to aid the revolution or even maybe sacrifice the prime sleeve to get current Kovacs back out into the world? So many possibilities with season 3 and I’d love to see where it heads

Hey man, I appreciate your editing. I look forward to your content.
Felt like more of a recap than any kind of explanation. Didn't feel like kovacs sacrifice was ironic. When he told Quell he wished she loved him enough to live and then died himself, it was for different reasons entirely - she wanted to pay for her sins and save everybody, he wanted to save her from herself, he was pushing for other solutions until this point when he realized she wouldn't consider any other way as a serious option. The one thing i wanted explained was why the angelfire didn't destroy more than 1 single person when all of the satellites converged, when the destruction they caused in the forest was so extreme (and that was only the local satellites) but the video just says he absorbed all the energy somehow. I think it's more likely he actively sent most of the energy as feedback through the system as he was dying, which is why the previously indestructible satellites blew up at the end.

I was a bit confused too but as another had commented, He did exactly what Quell was going to do...that is control the angelfire and kill himself and the Elder. The Angelfire in the forest also seemed to be somewhat selective (controlled)..the good guys didn't die. Control is the key word here. Makes some sense to me like that. It didn't to me before. I did think it was all set to kill the planet though. If that is true, it's a major hole or the 'control' was enough to override it. I wouldn't say all of this was stated clear enough though, if true.
YES!!! Requested this! THANK U! Kovacs & Quell ❤
I really love this season too! The characters have layers and a great story behind them. Annabel is so sweet omg. Although i do wish they start with a new main character after this, i feel like even the other takeshi or even quell could be given another story arch.
Falconer said she was planning to draw in the Elder (which would give her control of angelfire). They also mention that destroying Jaeger’s stack would just cause the elder to jump to another nearby stack. So when Kovacs gets Jaeger to kill himself, he expects the Elder to enter his stack. It does, and he uses it to access the angelfire and kill himself (and the elder in his stack). That’s why it doesn’t level the building.

Yes. I believe that ThinkStory missed this, but you're pretty clearly right with this interpretation.
I was really impressed with Season 2. Typically most T.V. series have a weak second season. The writers put all their best plot points and story lines into the first season just trying to stay on the air or get renewed. Then they have nothing left for the second or third season. Altered Carbon 2 was one of the few exceptions I have seen to this in the last few years.

They have a anime movie on Netflix called altered carbon resleeved
What happened first Harlan and Founders killed Elders OR Quellcrist Falconer invented Cortical Stack?????
Here's why the angel fire didn't destroy the building. Notice in episode six how each beam killed one person. And it was when multiple beams landed in close proximity there was a large blast. Could be the power of a beam is variable. It can be enough to kill one person or powerful enough with multiple beams to devastate an area. The eldar was controlling them in episode six. But the plan in the final episode was that Quell would control it. And she knew they would all be up there. So she knew it was possible to control its power level. But when Kovacs had the eldar in him its understandable to think he would know that it could be controlled as well. Therefore he only used enough power to take him and the eldar out.
Waiting on season 3.
Here I was hoping Poe managed to make his own DHF and become human. But the Kovac we’ve had the whole time is good too I guess...

Yup and Poe backed up the entirety of the code of his stack so he'd be able to revive again
if you can store your concussions in a "stack" and this technology is common place and apparently as cheap as a hiend cellphone (everyone has a stack ) why not keep 5-10 or 20 stacks as backup (double sleeving) seems only to apply to uploading to multiple bodies at the same time.... it would be cheaper than buying a car and would get you 100's of years of life even if you could not afford a sleeve right away .. this would be like having a bunch of backup dvd's on the shelf

You'd lose all your memories per stack
I understand everyone has their opinions but I couldn't help but appreciate this series as a whole.. the poetic subtitles in dialogue and the meaning behind actions were immense.. I honestly think this is one of Netflixes best series. I may be on my own with that but entertainment is built to be subjective and that's what is beautiful about it.
I thought it was pretty obvious why the building wasn't destroyed by Angle Fire. The forest was wrecked except for the one spot everyone was, implying the destruction could be controlled. Kovacs simply directed the Angle Fire into his body and nothing else.
Wanderful movie
I loved it better than season 1. Anthony Mackie was fantastic. Loved the double sleeve. Great plot point
I like the Elder stuff they put into this season. It may be less noir, but I enjoy that kind of thing. It seems some sort of an expensive plotline to follow tho, so I'm not sure how much more we'll see of them.
Basically to sum up without having to watch this video Poe copied an encrypted code before he left with Elizabeth and before kovac died and during the end Poe returns to the nevermore no remembering anything but still having the code in his pocket so he puts it in the computer And ms dig tells him it's a human dhf so when poe puts it in a stack forms and dig tells him to get whiskey referring to kovac
So why did all the satellites blow up again?
I think the actors who will play the role of Kovacs should be more consistent with the acting with regards to how the character was played in season one because the season 2 kovacs seems to be a different character. I get that the actors have their own style but the need to keep in mind that they're playing the same character... I hope some actors from season 1 comes back esp Ortega
I always thought that the dhf was of the girl who got messed up and had her baby killed
I just finished watching the season. I wonder why none one is speaking about the elders. The elders were prepared for war but against who is the biggest questions.
Imo both seasons have there respectable differences and are still both fucking awesome

Season 1 was far more cyberpunk and Noir (kind of hand in hand) than season 2, that's why ill probably always prefer season 1. Hopefully season 3 brings it back to a noir detective feel

Which explains why the building was in tact. Falconer destroyed most of the forest to save them. Takeshi destroyed himself to save them.
What was explained? This was just a recap of the last episode with some guesses at what season 3 might have.
I don't know why, but I remember liking a lot season one, yet completely forgetting the show. Season 2 was a bit confusing. Don't know if it's a misscast. Mackie does a great job, but I didn't see the same character than in season 1. His constant anger towards Poe was annoying. Like other shows, the connection between the seasons seems forced. Good thing is, if the show is cancelled, we had an ending, bad thing, when it has a new season, all characters are new, so you have to install them, takes time.
Season 1 was better overall but I still enjoyed season 2. Poe really sealed the season for me and the moments he's had in the season was just gut wrenching and amazing. I hope the noir aspect of season 1 and the cyberpunk aspect returns. I loved the detective approach. Season 2 was a strong 7/10 or 8/10 for me. I didn't love it as much as the first season but I definitely enjoyed it and it wasn't bad enough for me to be nitpicky. Poe truly the highlights of this season though lol
young kovacs is going to falls in love with celcrest then the old kovacs is going to come back and things are going to be complicated (altered carbon season 3)

It was great. My friend just finished watching it too and said it was great. Season 2 deals with a lot of dark and depressing themes that perhaps younger people wouldnt understand or wouldn't like. I dont know. That's my hunch. The happy ending was very much welcomed, at least by me. I think the season is a perfect bridge to a final resolution in a third season
Seeing as this combined books 2 and 3, there’s no evidence of making a season 3....BUT Thirteen and Thin Air could easily be prequels to the world, but wouldn’t have Kovach
Brah, he shot Jeger in the stack precisely so the elder would infect his stack so he could harness the angel fire to destroy both himself and the elder. He had to killer Jeger in order to gain the ability to control angel fire and spare Quel
I definitely preferred s1 but poe was amazing in s2, made me tear up more than a couple times
You didn't explain anything. It was just an recap of the episode...
Am I the only one to think that it is a little too good to be true to bring back (Mackie)Kovacs? I thought the whole point of his sacrifice was that there is still a version of himself alive that will learn to love Falconer (And be the focus of season 3).
I opened this wondering what needed to be explained. The answer is nothing.
I binged this season and it was awesome.

Tshidi Thebehali yeah me too.
yeah, i picked the right time to punch out on this one. too much backstory/mythology/world explanations needed in order to even watch the show.
I only watch season 2 because of Poe but without Poe, I won't. Season 1 was wayyyy better
