Over the past few weeks I have seen this come up more than once. IMO the level 1 armor is more than adequate. Over the years I have crashed more bikes than I care to remember in almost everyone of these crashes I had on apparel with level 1 armor and it did it's job as expected. While I agree the level 2 stuff shows better numbers in testing I feel the level 1 gets the job done. The pockets in this jacket are designed to accept the Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Armor which has a unique shape. That said the pockets may not allow other armor place. Has the cut of this jacket changed since the last few versions? LOVE their designs but I've always had a problem with GP Plus R jackets: I've owned 3 of them now and can never seem to find the right fit. I'm a 52 in everything else, but when I try the 52 in this, the sleeve length is a little short and it digs into the arm pits . i'm 6'0, about 188lbs and, as you would say, with a "mildly atheltic build". If i go 54, it fixes the problems above, but then the jacket doesn't fit as snug as it should around the waist area (a little excess material).

The T stands for textile. This one is a leather jacket. With leather you will get a higher level of protection in the event of a crash. With textile you enjoy a jacket that wears lighter, flows more air if it has mesh panels and costs less. The trade off is it can not match the protection of a leather. - Van
