Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I continue with my KIA FORTE build by wiring up the Alpine ILX-W650 touch screen radio. A modern radio can be confusing. In this video I show you where all of the wires go! Make sure you check out the entire playlist right here:

    It's such a satisfying feeling knowing that you're equipment is installed correctly. I like knowing all my harnesses are soldered together giving a great connection that will last forever. Great video as always man.

    I think the hardest part of the install is using a factory harness without a labeling diagram lol, your soldering work is really clean esp with heatshrink, surprisingly enough I've never had a problem with electrical tape, keep making good content!

    That's why companies like metra and scosche make cheap harness adapters, My soldering skills have improved quite a bit, I've wasted many evenings just soldering together a scrap wires for practice.

    The PRs are in a holding pattern. I need to relocate my amps before I can start glasing the box. That's going to mean rewiring the entire vehicle and probably building a custom center console. As for now the enclosure is just sitting on the back seat.

    It should, but the ILX W650 seems to be very sensitive to the type of USB cable used.

    The most important part of the build has to be the parking brake bypass. (Affiliate link: amzn.to/35VGKf0). It saves a ton of time, you don't have to go digging around under the dash for a parking break wire. PLUS you can sit in the passenger seat and adjust settings while somebody else drives. 😜

    The bypass is a must. It allows you to type on screen while driving, opens up more use of some menus and features in Apple CarPlay

    I know this unit comes with a reverse back-up wire. If I don't have a backup camera, and don't plan on installing one, do I need to wire it up? Or will the settings not work if I don't connect it. Thanks!

    @@ricodachico3515 That will depend on what kind of car you're installing it in. Some cars you will we'll need to find some bare metal up under the dash and ground to that. The instructions that came with your adapter that you're splicing into should let you know what you need to do. You can also look at the factory wiring and make sure that you're going to be plugging the adapter into a spot with a wire that corresponds to your ground wire.

    When are we gonna see the install?? And also how to keep the factory USB

  • @DIYAudioGuy

    @DIYAudioGuy

    Unfortunately I was not able to get the footage of putting the radio in the dash and I was not able to retain the factory USB. Apparently the USB port on this model radio is really picky and if the cable is not high quality it doesn't work. The adapter that crutchfield sent me was not high quality. After you get the wire harness put together and the install is pretty straightforward you just clip it into the factory wire harness and screw it down.

    You will either have to hard wire to the parking break sensor (It usually a switch located near the brake lever) or you will never be able to access any of the system settings.
