    Met one of you guys today down at Navarre beach. we talked for a half hour as he waited on some of the mako crew to roll in. he told me about yalls utube. Couldnt get to my computer fast enough to check it out. Super pumped to watch more and learn more. Side note: Im impressed that I've not heard a single swear word in the videos that I've seen. Keep up the good work!

    Hey man great video quick question for ya, would you rather use mullet or stingray to catch black tips off the east coast? And how is it best to keep it fresh because if I catch them a week before I go will I be able to freeze them?

  • @GulfCoastNation

    @GulfCoastNation

    2 жыл бұрын

    Mullet would be best! You can freeze them!!

  • @iamatt

    @iamatt

    Fresh is always best. We catch plenty on ray. During the day id burn through fresh mullet. We typically bomb stingrays in the evening before we settle down for the night since they are a bait that lasts until they get picked up. We have had stingray that has been soaking for 2 days get blasted, that isnt happening with mullet. Fresh with whatever you got first!

    @@GulfCoastNation we catch BT on everything! Heck yeah they hit ray. Seem like we get mostly bulls on ray but sandbars BT , lemons etc pick ours up no problem. Guess the older I get the lazier I get. Drive on the beach bomb some ray wings and chill. Keep bait rods going and next reel in will send out whiting or pomp whatever hits the bait rod. Mullet is solid for.bull reds here too. I would throw out whatever you catch on your bait rod. Last few weeks the big bull whiting have showed up here and the sharks are keyed up on those. Pickups on ray has fallen considerably and they just like the whiting the last few trips. We are catching plenty on just cast outs too.

    Based off looks of the fight and drag pressure Blaines seemed 10 to 12 and yours seemed 12 to 14. Blaines looked movable when it wasnt running but yours looked hard to move still. That stalemate to beasting runs and fighting for every inch are how the bigger ones fight. Either way kinda of a bitter sweet trip. The soflo saying is 250 or bust. Ive broke 200 but never 250.

    Stop playing with the bloody drag, keep a Certain amount of drag and leave it. if you play with the lever while it’s stripping line it while snap due to the pressure change, line tension and the weight of the fish. If your going to change it please just do it when it’s not stripping line or you will regret it and lose a fish of a lifetime.

  • @GulfCoastNation

    Sorry such a small detail bothered you so much! You are in a harness strapped to the rod. So your spotter may not have a great hold or be close after gaining line. You fish goes to make a run, back the drag down so you can hold it in the harness. Then when you get a spotter, up the drag.
