🇲🇾Almost Regretted Crossing the Border to JB, Malaysia

Enable cc to for English subtitles! So I made my move on to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Some take the train but I took the public bus. So how was it like traveling the border of Singapore and Malaysia? It was... a bit disappointing. Watch to find out.
Next video will be a walking tour of Johor Bahru. All my fellow Singaporeans tell me "JB is dangerous". Lets see if it really is.

1.5 hours is ok actually! Over the long national day weekend last year, we took 3 hours to clear sg customs and another 2-3 hours to clear msian customs. We started our journey at 5.30am from sg and reached Cameron highlands at 9.00pm. Coming back, it was just as bad. We left at 4pm and only reached sg only at 7am. The whole night the traffic wasn’t moving and we gave up waiting in the hired car and decided to walk across the customs when there was daylight instead. Each journey took about 15-16 hours and we promised never to travel to msia over the long weekend by car ever!

The food that you ate is Ayam Geprek (the latest Indonesian Dish from Java provinces) means Smashed/battered Chicken mixed with crushed chilli, garlic, and sometimes peanuts. Served with fried cabbage and usually fried tofu + tempe (soya bean cake), fresh cucumber. And then pour some kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). I like your videos. Regards from Indonesia!

Take CW buses via the 2nd causeway to various parts of JB. You can google for information. How about you do a video for these alternatives and compare?

The crowd is quite shocking for a weekday. I dont think it's due to CNY though. An expert level tip for going to JB: the trains may cost a bit more (S$5 one way from SG to Msia, and RM5 from Msia to SG) but it's 1,000,000x more convenient. The immigration clearance is done for both SG and Msia in Singapore before boarding the train, and there are barely any queues. The tickets you buy are for a specific timing, and the trains generally depart and reach on time (travelling time 5mins across the causeway). For weekdays, it is also much more easier to get train tickets as compared to weekends where you have to camp and be ready to buy on the day that they are released 1 month ahead. You can try it the next time :) JB has a lot of good food too, at a fraction of the price of SG; i can send you some recommendations if you'd like :) Btw your name reminds me of Studio Ghibli :p Are you associated in any way?

Other than not going there during the weekends, also don't go during the day before the start of a public holiday and during the first few days after the holiday starts. By the way, the jam is often due to the Malaysian custom. Not going into details. You can ask around. You will know what I mean.

just a recommendation of where you can probably explore in malaysia. you can head to Puteri habour that area or the hello kitty land. around that area, there r quite a few condos and theres also a yatch club around that area and the security is actually quite tight there. there are also lots of food and restaurants around that area. hope u enjoy ur short stay in malaysia! and just be careful while you're there. like keep a look out because anything can happen during your stay there

I went there once on a Saturday during the Christmas season. Oh man you wont believe how long was the line at the custom. From then onwards, I told myself I will only travel to JB via train, and no more day trip. The train only took me around 30 mins to reach JB from Woodlands.

You are lucky that you just have to wait for 1.5hrs at the M’sia Customs. Once stuck in M’sia Customs for 3hrs quite near to National Day. 1pm to 3pm is the best timing to cross the border.

The beauty of Malaysia is its more relaxed and laid back lifestyle. They like to go to Indian coffeeshop (aka Mama store) at night to enjoy supper and tea with friends. It is a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. Certainly worth trying if you can stay late in JB. 👍🏻😊

Tbh its always at Msia customs that take ultra long, in my opinion. And I’m talking about by car. Bus i expect it to be this crowded because its one of the most common way people would go from, if they don’t have cars. Never taken the train, so I have no comment on that. But yea, by car or by bus, the earlier you are, the better.

For most Singaporean and Malaysian, we would have burnt the image of the checkpoint into our brains due to how long the queue usually is. Especially if you chose a weekend or a holiday to go across. Edit: 8:25 マレーシア料理 would most probably be translated into Malaysian Food. Malay food would be マレー料理 I think. Malaysian is a Nationality, Malay is a race. You can have Chinese Malaysian and Malay Singaporeans.

The Malaysia and Singapore used to be a same country, the old grandparent generation people travel freely crossing the bridge visiting, shopping and vice versa. Then some quarrel happened, between the two Prime Minister and split happened, the rest is history. So these 2 place became 2 country with their own style of development. If Singapore is still in Malaysia as one of city it could have looked like Penang. Penang is another island city, by the seaside that is almost like Singapore in many ways. In short, I observed that Singapore people earn more $$$, Malaysia people earn more freedom. Fair. Haha. Just my perspective. Cheers.

You should go to the KTMB website to buy train tickets The immigration queue is entirely separate (and only for train passengers during that timeslot) 15RM for SG to JB, and 5RM for JB to SG Just reach 25-30 mins before train departure, you start entering 15-20mins prior, the train may leave 5-10mins later, and the train ride is ONLY 5mins Similarly, immigration on the other side is only for train passengers

I love when u said Malaysia is a fried food heaven, eat too much you to heaven straight… lol The mall is build for Singaporean, so weekday usually not crowded. Everyday queue is crowded because is $1~rm3 if rate is rm2 , which 10 years ago rate, it will be less crowded compare today
