There ARE certain instances where someone under the age of 16, without a valid driver's license, can indeed drive. Usually specified on a document from point A to point B, and ONLY between those two. When I took drivers training, one of the kids in my driver's ed class DROVE, alone, to the class. He had special paperwork granted by the government to allow him to do so. Having said all that, this cops kid was driving illegally, the mom cop lied, and she should lose her job and the ability to be hired as law enforcement ever again.

Since WHEN have police officers been held to a higher standard? ONLY when it goes public and the police can't protect themselves from scrutiny, otherwise they do what they like and their superiors protect them from accountability.

If he had his temps, he needs a licensed driver over 21 with him. If the accident was not the teen's fault, he should've taken his charges for underage driving alone, and momcop should've let him take responsibility. He left the scene and now the coverup may get both charges and mom fired.

Nope, you fu$& with another person’s flesh and blood, don’t be mad if someone fu&@ with your flesh and blood. It’s only fair. But wait… an underage driver leaving a crash could be understandable. The teen could panic. But how does an experienced decorated police officer not prevent her son from fleeing the scene IF she was in the vehicle? To me, either she is lying about being in the car - a felony. Or she was a party to leaving the scene/hit & run - a felony. Only thing to be debated is is the prosecutor going to give preferential treatment and reduce the charges? Which is what pisses the public off. So sick of the fact that cops rarely even get charged, but then if they do, it’s always some ridiculously light charge and sentencing.

A small lie, where no one is physically hurt would be different, not OK. This is an accident with serious injuries. There is NO excuse, AND if she lied about this, what else has she lied about. She should NOT be in law enforcement. Higher standard.
